The  afternoon  HAD  been  quiet  ,  for  the  most  part  at  least.   You  couldn't  always  escape  the  noise  and  chaos  in  Vought  tower  ,      but  Bucky  Barnes  had  gone  to  great  lengths  to  find  some  peace  and  quiet.   Being  called  to  the  meeting  room  ,  well  there  went  the  peace  and  quiet.   He  had  experienced  his  fair  share  of  fellow  soldiers  bickering  ,         (  hell  he'd  even  seen  a  few  of  them  get  into  it  a  bit.  )   but  some  of  the  members  of  The  Seven.   Well  ,    one  member  of  The  Seven  was  exceptionally  good  at  disturbing  Bucky's  peace.

He'd  gotten  there  early  ,  hoping  he  could  get  a  few  minutes  in  the  quiet  room  ,  shooting  a  text  to  Nia  to  meet  up  with  him  later  on  for  dinner.   It  was  a  pain  in  the  ass  having  to  schedule  time  to  see  her  ,      but  neither  of  them  felt  it  was  safe  to  go  public  yet.   As  much  as  they  might  want  to.

The  door  flung  open  ,  and  Bucky  looked  up  from  his  seat  at  the  table  ,  watching  that  cape  flutter  as  Homelander  stormed  into  the  room.      The  string  of  the  repeated  curse  word  bringing  some  confusion  to  Bucky's  features.   Great  ,  he  was  in  one  of  his  moods.   Now  they  were  all  really  gonna  be  in  for  it.   Unless  he  could  calm  this  nonsense  down.

     𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐰𝐚𝐬  𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭  𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭,     being  apart  from  annie  and  having  to  hide  to  keep  the  secret  that  she  had  survived  the  fall  with  soldier  boy.     but  it  was  necessary,  it  would  allow  annie  to  stay  focused  on  what  she  needed  to  do  and  it  kept  her  safe  without  having  to  worry  about  her.     maggie  had  thought  she  would  be  grateful  to  no  longer  be  a  supe,  in  so  many  ways  she  was,  but  it  just  put  her  in  more     𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫     if  she  had  stuck  around.     annie  would  do  better  if  she  was  out  of  sight,  out  of  mind.     the  distance  was  just  heartbreaking  and  their  late  night  phonecalls  meant  a  lot  to  her.     she  wasn't  supposed  to  call  tonight,  but  she  just  needed  to  hear  her  voice  and  know  that  she  was  okay.     maggie  may  be  hiding,  but  she  was  still  seeing  everything  that  was  going  on,  even  being  half  blind.     homelander  was  fighting  dirty,  using  the  press  to  try  and  tear  her  down,  it  was  relentless  and  she  hated  that  she  couldn't  do     𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠     to  help  her  right  now.     it  had  all  started  because  she  wanted  to  keep  annie  safe  and  that  hadn't  changed.     laying  in  her  bed,  unable  to  sleep  and  maggie  just  needed  to  hear  her  voice,  to  just  know  that  she  was  okay  as  she  could  be.
