YOU KNOW WHAT? this is usually karlach's forte , turning dronia on randomly or helping her learn new things about herself. CURIOSITY IS RATHER ATTRACTIVE , isn't it? her relaxed mood wasn't even interrupted , it was only heightened to be quite honest. the type of mood that truly means she's forgotten the world around her and there's only this bed , dronia , AND HOW MUCH SHE'S IN LOVE. the simple things.

there's also the way the sun filters in through the windows. it's something beautiful when this land used to be shrouded in darkness. JUST LIKE THEY USED TO BE SHROUDED IN DARKNESS. no more. they changed it all. every little thing.

"I'm starting to see, I think ... why they call this place the living nightmare," This declaration came after dealing with those wraiths inside of the mason's guild. She expected to actually enjoy her time here, bask in the shadows that Her Lady created, but how cold it was ... the growing feeling of dread the longer you lingered ... And then not to mention it felt like what happened to Dronia when they first entered seemed to be a biproduct of the Sharran curse too. Yes, it was safe to say she wasn't having the best time. "At the very least, there seems to be an abundance of treasure to sell later. By the way ... are you ... doing better than before?"

Ystin is loathe to admit it, but immortality has certainly made them less aware of when to take wounds seriously. While wounds can kill them, obviously none of them have yet, and Ystin has gotten used to shrugging things off for the most part.

IT'S THE WAY KRISTEN'S BODY INSTANTLY TURNS AWAY FROM DRONIA ... as much as it could without really affecting everything. so it was more like a head and shoulder turn. she also couldn't control the way her tail flicked in an obviously irritated way. magic is absolutely a bitch when you're not a magic user. specifically designed that way so that kane would always have the upper hand and kristen couldn't be powerful.

Dronia’s protest was a brittle shield, and Anri was determined to cleave through it.  Moving as swiftly as her armoured form would permit, she knelt beside her companion, reaching out to touch the hand stubbornly sealing the wound.  

Behind ivory ribs and steel plating, Anri’s heart clenched.  Dronia’s battle-ready and capable body had betrayed her, her breath coming in ragged gasps, her skin clammy beneath the streaks of dirt and blood.  Her gaze darted away, evasive, as if ashamed of her vulnerability.  

“Enough,” Anri murmured, her soft voice carrying a stern undercurrent, one rarely heard.  With hands gentle and deft, she carefully pried Dronia’s fingers away from where they plugged the wound.  Blood bubbled hot and immediate against Anri’s palm.  Too much of it, too quickly.  Her throat tightened with a familiar, second-hand pain – one that always pierced her whenever she witnessed another’s suffering.

“You would never permit another to press on in this state, and I will not permit it of you,” Anri continued, her attention sliding to their surroundings.  They were alone, walled in on all sides by dense forest.  Hardly ideal, but they would make do.

"Why is it that whenver we are sent to handle something," he begins, wiping the bottom of his boot on the still-bleeding corpse of the Kuo-Toa. Pathetic little aquatic humanoids. Disgusting. "We end up wading through shit and guts to get what we need. Fish folk, of all things. I still think they would've been far more useful had we their faith and idiotic fealty, but that is just me."

Go on. Ask anyone who's stood in his lavishly stocked kitchen, and they would tiredly tell you of how Gale's a princess. In fact, they would say he's more a tyrant, but some harranguing little monarch who would gripe and pester. See? Pour the custard into here and place the berries over there. You're supposed to chill the dough when you laminate it, remember? Sit down. (I beg you.) And let me cook.

...that said, them working so beautifully side by side? Unspeakably chuffed could scarcely describe him.

. Did he comfort, wait, kill her now to spare her the pain and to protect others? The last was never far from his mind- by all rights he should have immediately. Training with paladins was a dogma of decisive actions. There was no room for nuance with many of his instructors. It was only his shared connection to her beforehand that had stayed his hand.

His expression fell, brows ticked upwards as he grappled with what to do for her.

"If it makes you feel any better, the day you do, I'll kill you quickly." There was an... attempt at a lighter edge- like he was clumsily trying to make a joke of the very real potential threat to her life. "As it stands, you don't seem to be, yet."
