“Perfect.” 

Boba placed one of the blankets in the sand and laid out the assortment of small plates that would make up this all too short Life Day meal. Meanwhile, you went about arranging the gifts around the palm tree, your usually tense demeanor relaxing into the soothing sound of the waves. Earlier that day, the Daimyo had laughed while you’d scoured the beach for shells and fallen palm fronds and leaves, determined to make it all look pretty. 

It did not work out that way.

You chuckled at the display: festive bags meant a different holiday all surrounded by broken shells and a few bewildered hermit crabs that had wandered into it. The bags were necessary because not only were you both bad at wrapping gifts, but there was also so little time for such things. Getting away for just a few hours in the palace had been difficult recently. 

“Dinner or gifts?” You gestured to the food and the gifts under the glittering palm tree. "What would you like to do first?”

Silently, he lead you to the shore and laid you down into the gentle waves lapping your knees. 

“First, I’d like to kiss you for a while.”

Because of reasons, I was not able to do a fic a day for my 12 Days of Life Day, but I've settled for writing a couple tinier fics that will be posted staggered during Christmas Eve and Christmas. Sometimes we need a little thing to read in the bathroom
