honestly, as much as it hurts to say this, sylvie moving on from matt is kinda predictable since it seems like jesse isn't coming back to cf anytime soon, but getting sylvie to say she's been in love with him since s3 when she was clearly not?
and what's the point of making her realize that no one compares to him if she's not gonna recognize that he's the one and be with him? that whole "lower her standards for men" thing is just ridiculous
*little brettsey rant*
honestly? if the chicago fire writers were already planning a brettsey break up i wish they would've ripped off the band-aid already and done it on the finale WHILE JESSE WAS THERE instead of hyping them and their "big talk" up for an episode they had less than one minute of screentime together and leave us speculating for months. it would be way better than an off screen break up. we would have watched the episode anyway if it meant that it was the last time we were going to see then on our screens (i personally accepted that js isn't coming back anytime soon so i knew it was going to be the last time we'd see matt casey in god knows how long). i'm tired of them dragging this "will they survive the ldr or not? 🤪" for too long and no way i'll be watching s11 just to know the answer, especially when i'm 99% sure of what the answer is at this point.
some of you need to have the decency to tag your posts as an anti if you're talking about something you don't like. i go on a tag of any piece of media to see content, not people talking shit about it. please, take your ship war bullshit back to twitter.
posting this for future references but after that thread going on twitter i'd like to make clear that i don't support kara or her beliefs, and from now on if i ever post her on this blog it's going to be about her character and her character only
sylvie brett has always been my favorite chicago fire character and because of that i'm willing to separate character from actor, but i think that whoever has been following me on twitter for a while knows that i find it really hard to separate both things, so i'm not sure about how long i'm staying in this fandom. i'm really disappointed with everything i saw recently, and if anyone wants to talk about it my dms are always open.

so i've been thinking about brettsey in 8x13 and i have some random questions
- where did matt and sylvie go after they left the hospital with dusty?
- i don't think they left him at 51 with the other shift and emily was throwing a party at hers/sylvie's/joe's apartment that night, so did they just go to the loft and spent the night taking care of him?
- if sylvie did go back to her apartment, did she take dusty with her or did matt stay with him?
- for exactly how many days did they take care of him? did they take turns during these days?
(chicago fire 11x01 spoiler) *and a bigger brettsey rant*
saw the sneak peek as soon as i opened my twitter today and everything about it is so??? it just makes no sense. something i love about brettsey was how they talked about EVERYTHING, even before they were a couple, i loved their communication and now they can't talk on the phone for at least one minute? it's out of character for BOTH of them, not just the couple, but then as individuals.
remember when matt showed up in the middle of the night at sylvie's door in s9 because she was avoiding him since the last shift and it drove him crazy? do the writers really expect me to believe that he has been ignoring her for a whole week? is that little video supposed to make me want to watch the episode? because it's giving the opposite effect.
to be honest, during these last weeks i had already accepted the HUGE possibility of a brettsey break up and i thought i had already come to terms with it, but them breaking up isn't exactly what's pissing me off, it's HOW they're doing it. it's how they could've done it on screen, on 10x05 before jesse left instead of dragging us through a whole season that was already hard to watch (personally, i say this as a jesse fan because i definitely miss him and also how i think this show isn't so good anymore, and it's not just because he left, but that's a whole other conversation). it's how they could've done it on the finale WHEN JESSE CAME BACK so they wouldn't have to break up over the phone, or how they shouldn't have even put them together in s9 if they knew jesse was leaving in the first place.
"but the writers only kept them together as an excuse for kara to go on maternity leave!" kara was absent for exactly FIVE episodes. sylvie has family in fowlerton and in rockford, she could've just gone visit them. she also could've wanted to expand her paramedicine program, got injured on the job, or simply wanted to take a furlough. there's a thousand ways they could've explained her absence, trust me, they didn't need matt for that.
as some people here know, i'm no longer a kara fan, but that didn't change the fact that i love sylvie. she has always been my favorite cf character, and watching a show that it's no longer that good only for your favorite character just to see her suffering it's not so pleasant. that "independence and career growth" is something she should've got a long time ago (she's been in this show for what? 8 years?) and she shouldn't have to give up her relationship for that. if what i (unfortunately) expect to happen today indeed happens, i'm out of here. i'm never watching this show again. as i often say, tv shows are supposed to be enjoyable and this one is stressing the hell out of me.
