Drawing A, ‘One drawing or painting that shows what you feel is unique about yourself.’ , is about You and what makes you special, basically. What I did was draw myself as a Tarot card because I felt my interest in tarot/ superstitions was unique. Other people drew pictures of them in relation to the people that surrounded them. Basically, for this one I’d suggest thinking about yourself and what defines you and putting that into art! And don’t worry if you feel like you’re not unique in any way– I also felt that, but trust me, EVERYBODY has something unique to them.

Drawing B is a drawing about something that interests you. Admittedly, I could’ve submitted my Tarot picture here, since it was a subject that interested me, but one of the main differences is that YOU DON’T HAVE TO FACTOR INTO THIS PIECE. It’s just about one (or several) of your interests. It can be about anything, from language to mythology to science, whatever you like! It can even be inspired by song lyrics and books. Find something that really drives you to create, and make an image out of that :) (As an aside, I’d steer away from submitting fanart of cartoons/anime for this one, as I remember them discouraging that somewhere on the requirements page). You also write an artist statement about this one, so no matter what you choose, make sure that you can explain it in writing.

Finally, Drawing C is a Technical Piece. It should just be something that shows your technical proficiency in drawing. That means anything that shows your skill in life drawing, portraiture, rendering, lighting, etc. This one doesn’t have to be super serious realism though– it should just show a good grasp on anatomy or other classic art things, depending on what you’re drawing.

 And honestly, these prompts are flexible enough that you can draw a lot of things and still have it work out :D As a general rule, don’t restrict yourself to following the requirements to the letter– what’s most important is that they see who you are as an artist (and as a person?) through these pictures.
