What do you like or find compelling about Solas’ character?
Solas is clever, complicated, flawed, passionate, expressive and so multi-faceted and I’m fascinated at how players can have such different experiences with him. For me, Solas is one of those puzzles that I can’t help but continue to wonder and question everything about long after the game has ended. It was so exciting to discover all the common threads he shares with the stories of so many other characters, from the Inquisitor themselves to the Mayor of Crestwood. Each revelation about Solas gave me such thrilling, visceral reactions. He had an extraordinary influence on my whole experience playing Inquisition and I loved it.
What do you think is going to happen in DA4?
I think the Veil will come down and Thedas will hit a whole new level of chaos. The stakes are so high for Solas – I keep bouncing between dread and cautious optimism. But my gut feeling is that his arc will be bittersweet, yet satisfying. Whatever happens, I can’t wait to see the new Solas murals that will inevitably keep me up at night!
What do you love about being a writer/artist/comic artist?
I love feeling free to explore things as an artist, whether it’s an aspect of a character, environment, emotion or story. You can take any of these things and sort of stretch out the experience and have something to say about all with your art. And when someone connects with your work or your point of view, it’s even more magical!

This is a recent piece I did that ended up feeling like a creative milestone. I had such clear concepts for the composition and storytelling even from an early stage. It was a rare moment where I knew exactly where I wanted to go with my idea, and I was able to push myself and experiment a little more with my process. I had a lot of fun painting this one and I’m so happy with how it all came together!
