I’ve always been terribly afraid of fat shaming. I would always make a joke at my own expense or have a big smile or laugh but the truth is I was always ashamed of what others thought to the degree of convincing myself they were disgusted by my presence. And of course what do you do when you are ashamed or feel pain? You reach for something that gives you momentary pleasure or relief. In my case it was sugar or mores to the point chocolate. Don’t get me wrong I still have chocolate but interestingly no direct sugar and rarely any foods which contain it. I’ve grown close to people with addictions. Alcoholic, drugs mild and strong. I’ve asked them frank questions and they’ve been kind enough to help me understand more than I think I ever have. I believe that I have more space in my life these days to understand what the #paulnewman character in #catonahottinroof would describe as #thatclickyfeeling whether it’s #drugaddiction #alcoholism #food #fitnessmotivation or otherwise, it’s still pretty much an #addiction and so for me I choose to confront it. Recognize it for what it is and work to do something about it plus #exercise to get that #click feeling. I also choose to learn to #love #lovemyself more although it’s still a work in progress there definitely movement.
