Friendly reminder that if you talk yourself down after receiving a complement or just in general, you not only hurt your own self esteem but you also make the person around you or who gave you that compliment feel bad and uncomfortable. Instead of doing damage to everyone, maybe try saying a simple "thank you!" or not talk yourself down at all. Why do unnecessary damage?

Hello I know I’m just a stranger on the Internet but I genuinely hope you’re doing okay today and that you’re having a delightful day and I’m just here to tell you that if you’re not, I guarantee that it gets better. Feel free to talk to me or your friends or your family if things are getting hard to take. There’s no shame in letting it out.

If I’m able to jokingly insult you comfortably take that as the highest form of “I love you” I can bestow because it means you make me comfortable enough to allow me to be my sarcastic self and that I don’t feel like I have to put on that overly-nice person act and be fake around you as to be pleasing to everyone else. It means I basically consider you family. So when I say, “You’re such a dumbass” I really mean, “You mean a lot to me and I’m so thankful that you’re in my life”.
