When the news dropped I think it took me a few hours to actually process what had happened and even after watching his last video there was a part of me that just… couldn’t believe it? I cried of course none the less. Am still crying if I’m being honest. There was such certainty that this was something he could brush off, and yet. Maybe he was needed elsewhere more. My thoughts go out to his friends and family, and I wish them the best during all of this.

I wasn’t, and still aren’t really part of the MCYT or DSMP fandom, I actually found Techno’s channel from SAD-IST’s work, their animation about Dream and Techno’s duel had been showing up on my recommended and I just thought “Why not - it looks cool.” And from there I was hooked on their stuff, and because I wanted context I started looking into the YouTubers. I found Techno through Dream and immediately subscribed. His content was hilarious and I loved his dark sense of humor. This was during the pandemic and a time where I was figuring out my future - so his videos were a welcome reprieve. ((The Potato War still has me in stitches even after multiple viewings.))

It was thanks to him and the community that he had, that I started making fanart again. For the longest time because I wanted art to be my career I focused solely on making portfolio worthy stuff and along the way kind of forgot the fun of creating things just for me. But his community was so vibrant - so much art dedicated to his character with so many variations I just had to partake. And I started drawing again, things from the DSMP RP, fanart for fan fiction, just little things that made me happy. And I got better at art along the way - not just from the practice but also because I enjoyed doing it again.

Part of me wishes that I had been a little more active online and was able to properly thank him for all that he’s done for me, but I know that even if he didn’t know me he still understood the impact he had on others and how loved and appreciated he was.

I think somewhere deep in my heart I will always secretly be waiting for Techno’s next update. And that’s alright. Who knows - maybe we’ll get word on how his conquest of God’s domain is going, that would be a very Technoblade thing to do. But I digress.

Technoblade, good luck and godspeed wherever you are. Whether that be the long awaited retirement arc, or as you make your way through the Kingdom of Heaven to PVP God. Thank you for everything you’ve done, I promise to live my best life in your honor.
