I just finished “The Girl at Midnight” trilogy and I was wondering if you’ve ever thought of continuing the series? It’s just so wonderful and written so well. I fell absolutely in love with Caius and Echo together.

I’d love to write more of Caius and Echo but the decision to continue a series falls with the publisher not the writer. I’m grateful Random House gave me three books to explore Echo’s story (which is honestly more than I thought I’d get as a debut author) and I really did try to make it the best trilogy I could possibly write. I’m so glad you loved the books and these characters. It means the world to hear that!

You’ve probably been asked so many times but I literally just finished the savage dawn. Caius should technically be alive because he is just lost in the inbetween, but once his power restores whilst his lost, couldn’t he technically open a gateway? Or do I have to accept that he is dead and gone :( I haven’t enjoyed a set of characters like I have with yours for such a long time and would love to see you publish more or post it online about their lives afterwards, especially if they find Caius

As far as Caius’s status is concerned, no, he’s not dead. He’s, as the book says, lost. But anything that’s lost can also be found.

1. How do you pronounce Caius? I want to make sure I’m saying it right when I say it out loud. 2. What is the theme of Girl at Midnight? I’m trying to do a plot diagram and possible essay on your book and I can’t figure out the theme. Do you think you can help me please? 3. I love you

2. Uhhhh, I honestly don’t think about specific themes while writing. Trying to write toward a specific theme feels a bit constraining to me. It’s character and story first, always. I feel like the theme is something best left for the reader to interpret, and I don’t want to tell anyone how they should interpret my stuff.

I have just finished A Savage Dawn and I would like to ask you to continue the series. Please don't let it end so ambiguously with Caius and Echo. If you aren't going to continue the story, then can you please tell me why not?

I’m glad you enjoyed the book! But alas, publishing is a business first and foremost. The Girl at Midnight series was sold to my North American publisher as a trilogy and that’s what it’ll remain. The types of trilogies that get extended into longer series are ones that have sold bajillions of copies, making it profitable for publishers to continue them past three books. The decision to continue a series is at the discretion of the publisher, not the writer. I love Echo and her motley crew more than anyone, but the trilogy is where their adventures (at least in print) end for now.
