She transitioned to a femme once she reached adulthood. While Ratchet was hesitant due to the medical side of transitioning, Ironhide was confused but supportive.
She was taught how to be a medic by Ratchet and self defense by Ironhide.
The glass part of her "nurse cap" can be placed over her optics to be utilized as a pair of goggles, which help whenever she is in rough terrain that would impede even a Cybertronian's sense of sight.
Got interested in makeup and learned Japanese when the Autobots and Decepticons landed on Earth, and she fell in love with a human Japanese woman named Sumire Nihei.
Sometimes, Carmella will subconsciously slip into Japanese during arguments.
