"Is Jessica here?" she asked the woman at the front desk. But she didn't expect the red haired girl to be here. The woman shook her head and replied with a firm no. Pandora frowned, and leaned against the wall. She looked around, trying to see if she could get a feel for the place, but not really sure what was going on.

The bar was relatively quiet, a few patrons milling about here and there, but the nighttime crowd had not yet arrived, leaving Claude and the bartender mostly in solitude. The venue that he had selected was one that Claude had been to a few times, but not his regular place that he typically nursed a glass of wine at. Not wanting to bring James to a strip club during their first foray into non-formal interaction, he had elected for this little bar down the street from his apartment complex. It was not too dingy, but not so formal and clean that the captain might feel out of place. Looking down at the bar and seeing a not-completely pristine surface, he smirked a bit. Yes, this was the perfect middle ground on which they could meet. As time wore on, however, and the first of the nighttime crowds started trickling in, Claude found himself wondering if the other man would show. It was well known within the department that the two did not care for each other very much, but with the death of Anthony Potter, Claude found himself in sore need of allies - and he suspected that James might as well. Finally, as he himself was beginning to have doubts, he caught sight of his companion for the night, and he smirked. "Captain," he greeted, flagging him down. "I was worried that you had gotten lost."

Good morning. I apologize for taking time away from your work with this. I know how busy you all are, and I applaud the hard work that you all have been putting in over the last day. I have spoken with the Mayor's office, and I have been informed of their decision to bring in a temporary Commissioner from another city. You are treat him with as much respect as you gave the late Commissioner. Regardless, my door is still open to you, whatever you need. I will be at the precinct later on this morning, before the temporary Commissioner arrives. I expect you all to be on your best behavior, especially in these trying times.

It was no secret that the Assistant Commissioner and the Captain did not particularly like each other. Dissatisfied with essentially everything about James, Claude tended to avoid him like the plague, not wanting his foul ways to rub off any of Claude's holy lacquer. Nonetheless, James' tenure at Regium PD had been longer than his, and as his superior, it was Claude's responsibility to keep tabs on him. So, one particular cool December day, the Assistant Commissioner strode with purpose towards James' office, not unlike a storm cloud approaching with the intent of ruining someone's day. He knocked twice on his door before swinging it open and looking at the man inside. He was slightly disappointed that the Captain was not doing anything that he could reprimand him for, but he simply looked at him with a neutral expression. "Good morning, Captain," he said coolly. "If you have a few moments, I would like to speak with you in my office."
