I no longer understand having a rigid and absolutist interpretation of character design, now that I've grown up a bit. I used to have the extremely granular character sheet, where the stripes had an exact number for each body part and the character needed to be on model at all times, and I just...don't care anymore.

Couldn't imagine having a character now that couldn't be translated to the circumstance and style of the piece. As long as the core design is there, the soul of the character--and for any artist who cares at all, it will be.

So what I’ve learned from the internet in the last 10 years is that, if you draw well enough in a bold enough style, you can keep making weepy vent art literally all the time and people will not only NOT be annoyed by you, they’ll reblog you every single time. It’s like seeing The Secret work in real life.
