digital manipulations of photographs
mainly experimenting with different effects and textures within the program. i particularly enjoyed the pixelate option, making text almost illegible has become a favourite technique. ‘no pulling’ is layered, suggesting some kind of verbal, authoritative echo. using the embossing tool i made a version of the sign that almost exists as air or the softest dents in the matrix. my typical colour palette shines through both the pieces ( trying really hard to move away from the use of pink) , they appear similar to a palette found in a metropolitan area. creating a partially domestic and urban environment for the work to originate and drawn upon, inserts a sense of nostalgia into the piece. ‘hands off my kitty’ is softly distorted, difficult to immediately interpret. looks similar to a slogan for a food product, mimicking a persuasive approach to text.
