“I know this is upsetting for you; what you’ve been through… is truly unimaginable. But I can’t help you unless you open up.”
There was nothing; his hands placed between a cuffing device, causing limited motion. The room was illuminated by several machines poking and prodding at his mind and body; everything he did from blinking to breathing was written and recorded for the figures behind the glass, they watched him with their soulless inhuman eyes; he felt them in his soul; in his brain.
“Alexis?”
Time passed slowly as he watched the battered and worn clock tick down slower and slower each passing moment.
“Alexis?”
Was anyone going to come for him?; did anyone even care that he had turned himself in? It was for the best; nobody could help him anymore, not the government, not Mitchell or Gordon, nobody could help him… at least those human.
“FORZEN!”
Forzen shot up to face the woman in front of him; had she been speaking this whole time? His mind was racing so fast he could stop themself from being distracted and with the addition of the second voice in his head, that belonging to Acrtic.
“Please. Tell me what happened.”
Forzen took a moment to think over his words, was it best to talk all at once or in bits and pieces? Was it best to even tell them what happened; would they use it against them?
“Ok…” he said softly “I had a bad family, they were always too busy with their own lives to acknowledge my existence; they rarely talked or even looked at me. I was just a source of money to them. When I turned 17; I was gone, I ran out of there faster than an Olympic athlete.”
“My life was hard for the days I spent on the streets, on the beds of strangers; I was broke; had barely $5 in my pocket when I saw the poster that’d change my life. “Serve your country, Serve your people.” The slogan was so stupid yet I remember it so clearly.”
“Why did you pay attention to it?”
“I had this feeling inside me. I felt a need; a requirement to give back to the world, the same world that gave me so much suffering and pain in my childhood.”
“Why did you feel the overwhelming urge to join even with your past?”
“I don’t- I don’t know; I just can’t explain it.” “Continue with your story.”
“You probably know what happened next. I joined and met some good people. We were eventually assigned to our first mission; a small research facility in the middle of the New Mexico desert.”
“Is this the same mission that Adrian Shephard was on?”
“Yeah, but he wasn’t in my squad. Adrian was much better at his job, that's why he moved up the ranks so fast. From what I remember he was a very quiet guy, only speaking when absolutely needed but he was still very kind.”
“You speak about him as if you felt something towards him. Did you have overwhelming feelings for him?”
Forzen took a minute to think of a reply, memories flashed through his mind between the other soldiers and him. While he did feel something towards Aidrian it was more like a family bond than anything.
“No. He was only a Friend; more like a family member I never met before.”
Forzen readjusted himself in his chair, the wires coming out of his body were starting to become sore. Looking down he saw liquid pouring out of the one wire; it was almost the color of a Lilium or a Daffodil.
“What are you putting in me?”
“Forzen I said I would answer your questions after you tell me what I want to know. Now, tell me about Black Mesa.”
“Why do you want to know so badly… Weren't you there?”
Hahn stood up from her chair and began walking around Forzen; “Not every scientist in the world is from Black Mesa, Forzen. Or have you simply forgotten that in that stupid head of yours? Hm?”
Hahn stopped and took a seat back in her chair. “You’re broken, but I can’t help you until you tell me everything.” She gripped Forzens hand tightly.
“W-when the helicopters crashed I didn’t end up the same place Adrian had; He was lucky to be saved by those scientists. I ended up near the test chambers.”
“The same place where The Resonance Cascade occurred?”
“Yes, but it wasn’t the same. Everything was destroyed, I tried getting through the exit but nothing was working. There were these creatures everywhere, some dead and some alive. I was terrified so I just ran; I ran until I couldn’t breathe. That’s when I found it...”
“What did you find?”
Forzen was silent; he didn’t want to remember this part of the story, he remembered the pain and agony he went through; tears began to roll down his cheeks.
“ANSWER ME!”
Hahn’s scream made him jump; he felt fear coarse throughout his body, he was afraid.
“Please… I can’t continue it hurts-”
Hahn stood from her spot and walked towards the glass wall. She knocked on the door and was allowed inside. Forzen had no idea what was going to happen though he prepared himself. A surge of electricity shocked throughout his body; the pain was unbearable.
“You will have to talk to me sooner or later, Forzen. And I’m sure you’d rather prefer sooner.”
