Generally I've pointed people at Gitimmersion for learning the ropes in Git. While I think it's awesome they have very through interactive guides and a sample repo that they steer you through; it does lack a certain aspect of achievement. The Githug project aims to turn learning Git in the terminal into a type of game, reminiscent of the-ruby-warrior(one of the first bits of Ruby I've ever touched, and highly recommended as a fun exercise). If you're still having trouble learning git, or you think you can contribute back to the project by teaching others how to understand git as well as you do, give this project a shot and be sure to leave feedback in the issues.
