final thoughts about this whirlwind of a day:
some days the pannie feels hit harder than usual. but i don't remember being so emotionally overwhelmed by their relationship in a while. i think maybe it's because today in particular, my shipper feels are underlined with actual, real-life adult admiration?
i just. cannot believe these two people have been together from the very start of their twenties. that from the very get go they enjoyed each other's presence so much that they looked for every excuse to be together. that they have been living together for a decade.
i'm significantly older than dan was when they met and i'm still not ready for this kind of emotional commitment, never mind the physical commitment of being together 24/7 (living and working and vacationing together, they are legitimately never apart and haven't been since dan was twenty).
and i mean, today isn't any different than the day before, but suddenly it hits this much harder. that they just spent almost a year quarantined with only each other and by all accounts seem like they were doing just fine (relationship speaking; the familial and professional and mental struggles of 2020 are still very real). that they apparently spent three years planning every detail of the house they will grow old in and raise kids in and generally be in love in for the rest of their lives. this is it. it's not our crazy shipper ideas from 2k14. these boys are it for each other forever.
it feels. so unreal. that real people find this. that there's nothing about their story that has been exaggerated for the audience - if anything, we only know the half of it. that actual, real life people fall so madly in love over the internet when they're barely adults and love each other through financial difficulties and mental disorders and pressure from the masses and, even just the mere idea of building a house? is too much pressure for some couples?
i'm overwhelmed by how statistically unlikely dnp's love is. it's humbling and inspiring and i hope they'll be this happy forever.
