I'd like to point out something really incredible: should there be something resembling "written history" in the future (which is to say if climate change doesn't get us) you will be studied in textbooks. this is the generation that steps up and changes the world -- or, at minimum, survived a numerical milestone (as well as several apocalypses -- remember 2005-2012? L0L). I can cite sources if you don't believe me -- or you could just research it yourself: "disruptive technologies invented by millennials" according to strauss-howe generational theory, we are a civic/"hero" generation -- just like the parents that caused the "baby boom" and call themselves the "greatest generation", decades ago. by the way, when someone says "back in my day I paid for college mucking horseshit for a summer job" -- they are not really criticizing you for being lazy. it's a criticism of this whole society, because the sad fact is that the "greatest generation" really did have their shit together, and it worked quite well if you enjoyed picket fences. everything was just peachy until their children grew up in a completely different world, disillusioned by it, and started to "react" and "awaken" and have a "consciousness revolution" -- they wrote critical readings on disney and classic literature for their college classes, which is a dangerous thing to do, because: if you propose a valid complaint without also offering a potential solution, that leaves a void. nature abhors a vacuum, but businessmen love to sell them -- so into this void was sucked an endless supply of underhanded advertising tricks. tricks they learned from reading astute criticisms of art. now it is our turn to step up and become the next greatest generation. I'm not joking -- either we save the world or no one does, and unfortunately we have to do it by banding together and rewriting the political structure -- which will then be "unraveled" again by our children, just like it always has been if you don't believe me, consider this: we've already caused a second "baby boom". everybody who was anybody was fucking someone senseless on december 23, 2012. so. problem #1: how do we permanently eradicate wealth inequality?
