today she was NOT having a good day. she had just come down from a manic episode, and she was exhausted. the negative mood smacked her right in the face - head cloudy and full of negativity. she HATED going to work on days like this. but she dragged herself out of bed regardless, she did own the place after all. the day had been slow, leaving her with her thoughts for a majority of the day. thankfully someone had finally come into the store - which gave lavender a reason to force a small smile as he entered. he had been there for a while now, scanning the shelves. so she had gone back to staring at the counter, zoning out once more.
lavender stars reflecting on the past couple days. normally when he’s manic, odd things happen. she’s got this ENERGY that she can’t get rid of. but other things have started to happen - ones that she can’t explain. moving things without touching them, other things she SHOULDN’T be able to do. anxiety pangs in her chest as she begins to worry if she’s started seeing things, maybe she’s delusional. the anxiety and racing thoughts get worse, overwhelming her. and all of a sudden she’s taken out of them when she catches the person that was glancing at books standing in front of her on the other side of the check out counter.
she GASPS, jumping slightly and then it HAPPENS again. the bookshelf behind the customer - almost a whole shelf of books come clattering off of the shelves, falling onto the floor. she blinks, confused and startled. staring at the stranger and then behind him, she lets out a forced and uncomfortable laugh, unsure what to say. “HI, s-sorry about...about that.” a pause, “the shelves, they’re UH, sometimes there a bit off center?? how...how can i help you??” // plotted starter for @tenebroustm
