For Ashes! Sleepy + Clover~
@tenderlygrown , Sleep talk
Ashes dropped himself down onto his sofa and sighed. God, he was tired. Teleporting to Cloverβs timeline and back always took it out of him. But it was worth it just to see her. But it was worth it for how she made him feel.Β
βWhat are you doing, Ashes?β he mumbled at himself, tucking his arms behind his head and staring up at the ceiling. He talked to himself sometimes. It helped him reason things out.
βCatching feelingsΒ for a human? Way to go. What would your parents say?β
βNothing. Theyβre dead, stupid. Thereβs no point worrying about them.β
βBut if they werenβt dead, how would they feel? And you remember why theyβre dead, donβt you? Itβs because of humans. And humans are also the reason youβre the last of your kind! Why every other elemental from your village is dead!β
βDonβt be a moron. You canβt attribute genocide to a girl who was born centuries after it! Besides, if Clo was alive back then, she would have tried to help us. Iβm sure. Sheβs that kind of person.β
βDo you actually know what kind of person she is?β
βYes!β He was surprised at the conviction of the thought, and at how sure he was about it. It was a warm feeling.Β βI know her. And she knows me.β
βWhat do you know about her?β The one side of him asked, but it was no longer hostile, but inviting, asking him to think of all the things he knew about Clover the human. He smiled to himself as he began to think, and he closed her eyes. He could visualize her face perfectly.
βI know that her hair is as soft as silk, and twice as pretty. I know how gentle her touch is, like sheβs worried sheβll hurt you. I also know thatβs impossible. She couldnβt hurt a fly. And if she did, sheβd cry about it for hours. Sheβs sweeter than sugar and more lovely than all the flowers in her garden. She smells like earth and flowers and something sweet that I canβt quite place. Sheβs justβ¦ so cute. And she doesnβt seem to realize it, but that just makes her even cuter. I didnβt trust her at first, but that didnβt last long. She was so kindβ¦ So genuine. She wanted to help be. But sheβs never pitied me. Never looked at me with anything but kindness. I know the flowers in her face are a curse. She killed a monster. I canβt deny that. Butβ¦ it was an accident. I believe with everything that I am that she couldnβt purposely hurt anyone. She hasβ¦ the most beautiful eyes though. Soβ¦ warm. Like thereβs a welcoming fire burning behind them. So accepting. Beautiful. Sheβs soβ¦ so beautiful. Andβ¦ her smileβ¦β
His thoughts trailed off as the image of Clover smiling at him took over. And he fell asleep to that image, and dreamed of her with a smile on his face.
