For a moment, Missy just... lay there, allowing herself to let her head rest against The Doctor's chest, listening to the slow, sleepy rhythm of the other Timelady's hearts. It was still, technically, late. But she could sense the sun just below the soft curve of the horizon, and the moonlight glittering off the face of the ring now nestled against her finger was faint, like a distant suggestion of silver.
She slipped quietly from The Doctor's arms, doing her best to ignore the sharp aching of her hearts and her head. Just her head. She was used to the others, and she had lived with them long enough that she could pretend not to feel it. The way this particular round of teasing hurt.
"It was fun while it lasted," Missy murmured, pressing a kiss to The Doctor's forehead as she slept. "But let's face it, darling... You're old enough to know better by now... No, no... No tears, Doctor... Let's not make a fuss... Just let me go... Let me go, Doctor... No need to resist any more... it's alright... Just let me go..."
She let the pantomime linger in her mind's eye just a moment longer, before turning and slipping away. Even as she left, she let her fingers twist the glittering band of gold around her index in endless, thoughtful circles... She really ought to keep it. After all, what would The Doctor do with it? Throw it away, probably. Yes... she would keep it. For spite, of course. And she did so love beautiful things...
