" i'm sorry. " truly, deeply, utterly remorseful. this wasn't right and it hurt her to do, to go against the doctor's wishes. there were certainly several instances where the tardis -- often, specifically, autumn -- had rebelled against the doctor's instruction, but when he was serious about something, when he felt there was something he needed to do, the flight was always smooth. autumn was psychically bonded to the tardis, and the tardis was psychically bonded to the doctor; over millennia, autumn had been programmed to not go against the doctor's wishes. the tardis wouldn't. in the end, it would always default to the doctor's desires over autumn's despite basically being one with her, and she couldn't blame the machine. it loved the doctor. she loved the doctor. so the fact that he was set on going to this place meant that the tardis wouldn't listen to autumn's telepathic commands to disobey him; she had to physically put a stop to the flight.
the doctor had been in the console room, busy over the controls, when autumn showed up. she didn't say anything -- didn't introduce herself, despite knowing that he had absolutely no clue who she was -- as she quickly started messing with the controls, undoing everything he had been doing to put the tardis into motion. she could feel levers resisting being pulled, buttons putting up a fight to be pressed. the tardis didn't like what she was doing, but it couldn't stop her.
her work was quick -- too quick for the doctor to stop her. not only did she put an end to the current journey, she also, temporarily, shut down the console entirely. for the time being, the ship would just float around the vortex.
she backed away from the controls immediately, turning to face the time lord. her immediate instinct was to simply run away, he wouldn't be able to find her, but she stayed rooted to the spot. she didn't want to have to talk to him, especially not if he was upset with her, but overwhelming guilt stopped her from leaving. he'd wanted to go so bad and it wasn't her decision to make for him, yet she had anyway.
her head hurt. the tardis was mad at her. it was yelling in her brain.
" you can't go. " i won't let it change you.
