#tempest twilight

Tempest Twilight is a pegasus of average build, with sunny, golden eyes. She has a light, grey-blue coat and a cloudlike, wind-touseled mane of stormy purple above and sunset pink below, giving it an underlit appearance. Her mane is very fine and tends to float even in light breezes. Her cutie mark is the sun breaking through a stormcloud.

Tempest is a cheerful and optimistic pony who often seems to have her head in the clouds. Her talent and expertise lie firmly in the realm of Cloudwrangling, although her range of interests is surprisingly broad During downtime she especially enjoys storytelling and music, and often hums to herself. She also loves airships, geology, history, mythology, animals, and a dozen other things. She is a gregarious pony, and because her job takes her all over Equestria and intersects with ponies from all walks of life, she knows a lot of ponies in a lot of places. She loves talking with ponies about their special talents.

Tempest is very distractable, and it's not unusual to look up to find that she has disappeared to get a closer look at something. She is usually gazing around her, poking into things, or sitting with her eyes closed as if listening to unheard music. It's a different story when she is on the job, however: when she knows that others are depending on her for their safety, her concentration is calm and laser-focused. Even under normal circumstances, her friends know that she is often paying more attention than she seems to be.

Tempest is uncomfortable with conflict, and will usually try to find some way to defuse tense situations. She's good at this!  She tends to see the best in ponies and has a knack for finding common ground. She has a vexing and nearly unshakeable belief that everything will work out fine in the end, an attitude that her friends are sure will get her into serious trouble someday.  It's difficult to tell whether she is hopelessly naiive or uncommonly wise.

When she's alone, Tempest loves nothing more than flying: surfing the winds through canyons, riding thermals, skimming between cloud formations, and discovering new places to do these things. Her flight is always joyful and seemingly effortless, and if the winds are sufficiently strong or tricky she will even laugh out loud. Even when on the ground, her wings are often partially open, and they flick rapidly open and closed, birdlike, when she is excited or nervous.

In addition to her pegasus duties related to maintaining the weather, Tempest works as part of the Pegasus Emergency Response Team, a volunteer group of first responders to extraordinary emergencies. Her specialty is Stormwrangling-- confronting dangerous storms and working with other ponies to disperse them or to direct them away from areas where they might endanger pony lives or livelihood. She is particularly good at reading the complex air currents in such storms and directing her teams to where they can be most effective. PERT also aids emergency fire and rescue teams by rapidly herding rainclouds to fire locations, monitoring wildfires, and helping to airlift stranded ponies.

Tempest's special talent is Windsong: she can read and interpret air currents and weather phenomenon, and act in harmony with them.
