I couldn’t help but sharing about our experience at Telunas by crashing Jason’s music blog. The place was beautiful and tranquil. It reminds me of what simplicity and happiness are. There was no room key to lock the villa (well, you can request for one by paying a deposit but we were guaranteed that we would be safe) , no traffic, no wifi, no TV or even my best friend a.k.a. air-con, with limited food, drinks and snack choices, but sun, beach, sea breeze, nature, hermit crabs, mozzies, and a 3D2N of connecting, being present, attending to, listening and giving space to my loved ones.

There were a total of 15 villas on the private islands. We greeted one another every time we walked past each other. That reminded me of my uni years staying at Emmanuel college at UQ. Strangers can be friendly, if we slow down and take the time to acknowledge each other’s presence.

Most hotel guests were big families from overseas countries. The children were absolutely loving. Jason got to play with the Octonauts at the pool shared by his new friends. He was offered to be accompanied for a hermit crab hunt. He was so sad that he lost one of his favourite trains at the beach resort 5 minutes boat ride away from the private island. The next day, a little boy happened to see it and brought it back to Jason.

So what about the songs that we sang at Telunas?

“Baby sharks” and “3 little fishes” when we were swimming;

“Row your boat” when we saw people kayaking;

“Twinkle Twinkle”, “Star light Star bright” and one of my favourites, “Dream a little dream of me” when we walked back to our room after dinner under the starry sky;

Daddy made up his new version of “we’re going on a star hunt” to the words of “we’re going on a bear hunt”;

Stacey Kent’s “What a wonderful world” and Jason Mraz’s “Rainbow Connection” when Jason was nursing to sleep.
