Day 6: 3/1/16 Dale's Donuts. I had a chance to speak with a recently displaced individual today while I took this picture. Told me his story and gave me the blessing to share some of it on here: "I've been living in this neighborhood since 1972 and boy have I seen so many changes here. So much. Times passed and the economy got tough. Not too long that I got out of jail, and tried to fight it before that happened, but what is a public defender and prior gonna do me? You already know how it is. I'm out, I don't have much going on, but I sell movies. No matter what, presentation and a firm handshake go a long way in the hustle, regardless of what it is. Don't forget that. And we gotta show people how it is here, through our stories. Focus on yourself, don’t allow yourself to become vulnerable again when you still have things you need to fix. Take it from me, I been there before and I’m telling you this because I know better. Take it as a grain of salt, there’s better ways to go down that road, but if we are smart like I think we are we will always end up playing our hand in the best way. Limit the distractions, give to yourself before Giving to anyone else and above all stop wasting time on something temporary.
