Hi Abby! I saw your video about the SM musical songs. And it got me thinking and I realized I really have no idea about the musicals at all. I know the manga and both anime but nothing about the musicals. So there are obviously multiple ones, but how many? Are there different musicals for each arc? Did they have the same people for the first like run through of the story? You said there was a revised one, is that the new one that came out like last year or something? Thank you (:
YAY
Okay so there are more than Ā twenty-nineĀ Sailor Moon musicals!! They kind of go all over the place arc wise.
Itās separated like this (this is how most people in the English-speaking world separate it)
The First stage is the one I talk about in my vlog (and itās the only stage Iāve seen as of now). Anza Ooyama played Sailor Moon, and essentially the arcs follow the anime/manga canon pretty closely. The first one is the Dark Kingdom, the second one is all that S business with Professor Tomoe and Kaorinite (it skipped R), the third one is Super S with the Dead Moon Circus and all that, and the fourth one is Stars with the Starlights and Galaxia (each musical also had itās own ākaiteibanā, which is basically a revised version. But essentially, itās still the same story, just minor changes). The only one thatās different really is the fifth one, Eternal Legend, and that one is my fav :3 itās got Galaxia AND Beryl and you need to at least see that one if not any of the others!!!!
The Second stage is where Fumina Hara played Usagi. Iām not familiar with these (I havenāt seen them yet), but from what I understand the first one is basically a conglomeration of stuff from the anime/manga canons. Apparently it too has Beryl and Galaxia, and I also see Chibi Chibi and Chibiusa in the cast list, so that one would be cool!!The only other musical in that stage is called āKaguya Shima Densetsuā, and apparently it has an ENTIRELY unique plotline.
The Third stage is where Miyuki Kanbe played Usagi. Again, havenāt seem them yet, but these are the Dracul/Transylvania musicals. There are three musicals in this set I do believe (excluding the revisions), and they kinda have to be watched in order because of how they fit together and the fact that their stories are different from any other canon. I donāt know much yet, but I do know that somehow it incorporates Professor Tomoe, Count Dracul(a?), and Star Seeds (and also Homunculus, which I didnāt know where in this and now that I know my Fullmetal Alchemist heart is twitching).
The Fourth stage is where Marina Kuroki played Usagi. Thereās like 5 different musicals in this set, not even including the revisions!!! Wikimoon doesnāt seem to have a summary for this one (LOL), but itās got āBlack Ladyā in the title, so maybe itās R??? Maybe it incorporates R significantly somehow?? Thatād be nice, there havenāt been a lot of R musicals! The next musical (skipping over the 10th Anniversary show, and the revision of the previous musical) was basically the Infinity arc/second half of the S season, just with a few minor changes. Then I guess it skipped Super S (*CRIES*) and jumped right into the Stars arc. The next musical was technically a revision of the previous one, but it was more heavily influenced by the Eternal Legend musicals. And the last musical in this set was essentially a total remake/revision ofĀ Kaguya Shima Densetsu, from Fuminaās era.
AND THE FIFTH STAGE IS THE ONE WE ARE EXPERIENCING RN with Satomi as Usagi :D As of now, we have the Dark Kingdom musical there from last year, and later this summer weāll get the R musical!!!!
I HOPE ALL OF THAT MAKES SENSE Iām sorry if most of it is just me rambling, but remember, Iām on my first watch-through of these!
