Psychology study 📚💕
bro??? koga got completely uke-fied 😭
I'm watching the ep again w the manga in my hands so i can compare, and it's crazy how many little things they've added...
it's to be expected that certain shots are changed or added to make it flow better in animated form, but I've noticed that they've added (and changed) quite a lot of not-really-necessary things (which is really making their love of the source material apparent!);
-kyouji's dramatic walk up to the door after the choir performance (this is not based on any of the panels, he was just already standing there) -the teacher mentioning how they got 2nd in the competition after the performance and satomi quietly blaming himself for it (there was no after talk, it just went straight to satomi in the dressing room and opening the door) -instead of kyouji just sitting there, they added a visual during his explanation of the karaoke contest -kyouji acting out the poking of the tattooing needles with his finger (he also didnt mention it until later, originally) -just like with the karaoke contest explanation, they added a visual during kouji's explanation of how the boss does his tattoos (+ the hello kitty hand tattoo tease, lol) -way more buildup during the 42 second intro (kyouji running his hands through his hair, tapping his feet, unbuttoning his jacket, etc. originally he only fixed his tie and that was it) -the eye / blood droplet scene. -there's a disco ball in the room now?? -so much flair was added to kyouji's performance. mentioning every shot would take too long, but special shoutout to the headbanging followed by the abrupt cutoff, it really elevated the comedy in that scene. -kyouji heaving from his performance whilst satomi eats his last bit of rice. lmao. -satomi's after-the-fact narration was removed (they kept all the other narration he does in, just not this little bit) -they emphasize the silver medal thing again, originally they never specified which place they won -they switched up the order in which wada and satomi tell each other what they're doing (which makes the convo flow less well... hrm) -you actually get to see (and hear) kyouji sing a bit of tiger and dragon -satomi putting his hand on his throat after kyouji asks him to sing -they actually show the choir song name (ガラスの小箱 / small glass box) -they show a picture of the whole choir together -when the teacher mentions getting a sub for satomi's solo he thinks back on their performance at the beginning (and how he feels like he messed up) -the entire last part is anime original, save for that one long still shot of kyouji holding the umbrella over satomi, which is obviously a nod to the front cover of the manga. -satomi's narration at the end is also based on what he said right before the anime original scene starts, but its been slightly altered.

ok so I'm not the only one picking up on Hikaru and Yoshiki's dads having some sort of unspoken Thing going on prior to Kohei's death, right? they don't just visually resemble their dads for no reason. like there's a deliberate story parallel here.
another one where the vibe is completely different (oneshot on the left, vol release on the right); hitsujiya looks excited at the prospect of there being more hacks rather than cautious. i feel like this change was good though, because hitsu in the full series is definitely quick to jump on hack trying opportunities (no matter the danger), so it makes this facial expression fall more in line with his character.
the transgender allegory.
