The Luau Burger recipe by Ted Reader is a deliciously unique burger that combines the tastes of a tropical luau with traditional burger ingredients. This burger is taken to the next level with grilled pineapple, red onions marinated in teriyaki, and a creamy teriyaki mayo sauce.
Ingredients: 1.5 lbs ground beef. 1/2 cup diced pineapple. 1/4 cup diced red onion. 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 4 slices Swiss cheese. 4 hamburger buns. Lettuce leaves. Sliced tomato. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Warm up the grill over medium-high heat. Put the ground beef in a bowl and season it with salt and pepper to taste. Cut the meat into four equal pieces and form them into burger patties. The burger patties should be cooked for four to five minutes on each side, or until they're done the way you like them. Set the pineapple slices on the grill for one to two minutes on each side while the burgers cook. This will make them caramelized. Put the diced red onion and teriyaki sauce in a small bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes. For the burger sauce, mix mayonnaise and a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce in a different bowl. In the last minute of grilling, put a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each burger and let it melt. On the grill, toast the buns for one minute, or until they get a little brown. Spread the teriyaki-mayo sauce on the bottom half of each bun before putting the Luau Burgers together. Put a lettuce leaf on top of the sauce, then a burger patty with cheese that has melted on top of that. Put a slice of grilled pineapple and a tomato on top. Add some red onion that has been marinated on top of the tomato to finish. Now all you have to do is put the top bun on the burger and it's ready to be served! Enjoy your burger with a taste of the luau with a tropical twist!
