You see them everywhere. You hear them in almost every recruitment related conversation and t-shirt. You know what I'm talking about;

Go.

Pick.

Choose.

These words have pretty much invited themselves into the recruitment vocabulary, which is why they've got to go.

You go to work and school. You pick outfits and classes. You choose what to eat for lunch and when to go to bed.

But you don't go/pick/or choose a sorority that you are making a lifetime commitment to.

When participating in the recruitment process, we must be intentional in remaining open and active in the search to find the chapter that is the best fit for each of us as individuals. We look; we listen; and we follow our hearts in the direction of the home that is meant to be.

Recruitment is a mutual selection process. Yes, you "select" the chapters you would most like to visit the next day, but it is a two way street. The chapters have to do the same. Each day they are looking and listening for the qualities you possess that will help to elevate their sisterhood.

When we say words such as go, pick and choose, it disregards the purposeful and intentional nature of the recruitment process. It gives the impression that we could just sign up for any chapter, not knowing or taking the time to learn a single thing about them.

It's why we stress the importance of participating in recruitment with an open mind.

We participate in recruitment to learn about each sorority and gain the information that will help us decide on the organization we would like to commit to for a lifetime.
