I made this Vox x Sera + bisexual x ace‑spectrum pride collage because, honestly, I was surprised when Sera was confirmed as a lesbian in canon. She always gave me asexual, demisexual, or generally ace-spectrum vibes. But that’s totally cool, canon is canon, and I still get to have my own HCs :3
But anywhoolde, my friend @flowerycoffin introduced this ship to me, and it inspired me to make an AU of my Angels Among Sinners AU (post S2), where Charlie creates a new program called “The Guardian Angel Project,” a trial where an angel is paired with a sinner to help guide them toward redemption, and the Vees only agree to participate not because they want redemption or care, but because Charlie weaponized their egos against them. Originally, Charlie ends up paired with Vox through the Guardian Angel Project because she’s technically “half angel,” and that eventually leads them to become a couple, but in this AU, Sera ends up assigned to Vox, and they become a couple.
What draws me the most to this ship is... One, Vox is deeply wounded; two, he’s starving for validation; and three, he’s terrified of vulnerability. She'd be drawn to him because he is one of the most broken souls she has ever encountered, but he hides it behind arrogance, cruelty, and charisma.
Vox’s obsession with destroying Alastor wasn’t just some petty rivalry; it was a decades‑old emotional injury he never healed from. The betrayal hollowed him out so badly that he’d wipe out everyone, including himself just to make someone else feel the pain he’s been carrying alone.
And Sera would empathize with him because she still has the instinct to see the truth in someone’s soul. She feels guilty because she’s an angel who lost her way, and Vox becomes a mirror of every soul she couldn’t save. And the simplest truth is that my baby girl is lonely. Sera's loneliness made her isolate herself spiritually and emotionally, and she would resonate with Vox’s pain because of that. To her, Vox isn’t a monster… he’s a tragedy.
And Vox would slowly let her in because Sera would be the first person who doesn’t see him as a villain, a joke, or a rival. She would see the hurt he’s been burying under decades of rage. And that scares the absolute shit out of him.
Vox keeps insisting that he doesn’t need anyone’s pity or that he isn’t some charity case. But once he realizes that Sera isn’t here to hurt him, manipulate him, or use him, he’s forced to sit with the fact that this towering, gorgeous, and impossibly radiant woman is spending time with him because she wants to. Her sincerity hits him harder than Alastor’s betrayal ever did, and he starts to feel a fluttery static for her... 😳 Once his fluttery static starts, Vox can’t help himself. He becomes strangely gentlemanly around her, walking beside her like a happy little puppy trying to look composed. He starts secretly feeding the media little hints and clips that make it look like they’re a couple, then puts on an exaggerated act of outrage whenever people ship him with his guardian angel. He pretends it’s scandalous, but deep down he’s hoping that if he exposes Sera to the idea of them together, she’ll like it and get on board. He wants her to want him. He wants her to choose him. He wants her to be his queen. He even secretly reprogrammed Shok.wav to recognize Sera as his “mommy.” Because no matter how cool and charming he pretends to be, Vox will always be a hopeless simp and a boyfailure at heart lol.
And Sera notices. She develops a soft spot for him over time, and she knows exactly when he started crushing on her HARD. She sees the spark in his eyes, the way his smile softens around her, and the way he tries so hard to impress her without admitting he’s trying at all.
