Are you addicted to technology?
A survey found that "30 per cent of respondents plugged in before climbing out of bed in the morning; 31 per cent went online at the dinner table and 42 per cent used their devices in bed before falling asleep"(Tapper.) The study showed that technology is the major addiction of everyone. People spend so much time on their phones and computers, compared to the past.
Technology has a negative and positive impact on us. It makes our lives more convenient while decreasing our "ability to focus, store memory, multi-task efficiently and learn how to interact with each other"(Tapper.) As we all know, technology saves us time and makes our lives better. However, it doesn’t seem to making our lives better now.
Do you spend much more time in front of a computer than interacting with your family? If you do, that means your social life and social circle are shrinking. Is technology more important than our social lives? NO! That’s why we should spend less time on playing with our phones and computers. Technology helps us to connect with others but it is definitely not a substitute of a real-life interaction with our families and friends. We should still hangout with families and friends whenever we have time instead of interacting in front of the computers. Apart from lack of social life, we are also lack of exercise if we spend too much time with our computer and phones. It is also obvious that we are relying on the technology too much. We always pull out our phones for answer, like simple calculation. Our phones basically do everything for us, including simple tasks. That’s why we get anxious when our phones and computers went dead. Â
Over-using and over-relying on technology is certainly not a good habit as we are missing out other important things in our lives. We should make sure we are making good use of the technologies instead of letting them to affect our lives negatively.
