I’ve seen some polarizing responses from Techno’s will in response to his statement about Tommy, and no one is asking for my opinion, but I thought it might help me if I gather my thoughts
I think, above all, it shows that Techno still thinks about Tommy. despite cutting Tommy out of his life and turning a cold shoulder after Tommy’s betrayal, there’s some part of Techno that still cares about the kid he found scrounging around his house for scraps. somewhere along the way, Tommy made an impression that Techno has yet to shake off, and even if Techno himself has no plans to help Tommy find “what he’s looking for,” he still seems to hope the kid finds his happiness
personally, I’d love to see some reconciliation between these two characters just because I love them both and their wildly different personalities are so much fun to watch, but the chances of Techno forgiving Tommy’s betrayal seem slim, and even that pales in comparison to the chances of Techno apologizing for the actions he’s done that have hurt Tommy, directly or indirectly. and with Techno’s plans to rescue Dream from prison, I expect Tommy’s mixed feelings toward Techno to shift further to a negative direction
I’m looking forward to seeing how this all plays out, but I’m definitely expecting some angst. despite not being brothers in cannon, I can’t help but to feel that their bond is somewhat of a brotherly one. at least at times, Tommy has held a sort of brotherly admiration for Techno and Techno has played the reluctant role of the protective older brother. the paths they have taken and the goals they have chosen stand opposed to each other, but their history has continued to maintain a connection between the pair that neither seem quite ready to give up
"Phil I'm glad I met you in this life"
Oh my god pain.
I hurt
