Im not going, but from what a friend of mine's said about the vector arena, and from thei lr experience seeing paramore a few years ago, the earliest youre allowed to arrive is 30 hours before doors, but for most medium popularity bands like 21p (as opposed to say, one direction) people trying to get barrier tend to arrive around 5am the day of the show. I could be wrong though.
^^^
It really depends on how long you (and other people that youâre going with) are willing to wait. I know that last year people were lining up super early because it was a smaller venue but Vector is HUGE. Regardless of when you turn up whether it be 5am or 5pm, there is a high chance you will see the stage and have a really good time. Also there are multiple doors at vector (remember to check your ticket for your door!!) so if you happen to turn up later there will still be a chance that you will be close to the front of the line. Donât stress!
(and ooh goodness 3 hours or 30 hours?? (Iâm picking itâs probably 3 hours because 30 seems a lil bit extreme - camping overnight in auckland cbd is definitely not the safest activity!!). If it does turn out to be 3 hours before doors then there is a lovely park literally across from the arena that we can all chill in beforehand! (also there is a pizza hut/mcdonalds/kfc 5 minute walk from the arena too just in case people need dinner/lunch etc.))
Personally, Iâm not 100% sure what time Iâm getting there yet. Iâm just waiting to see whether I can stay the night in my friendâs apartment beforehand but Iâll probably get there sometime between 5-7am because it is holiday time for me and I donât have anything else to do other than wait around for hours yay!Â
(P.S. it is not essential that you turn up at 5am, if you want to, feel free but donât feel pressured that you have to if you/people that youâre going with donât want to wait that long. Regardless of what time you get there, you will still see and still have a good time!!)
Itâs that time of year again where I thought I would put together a big long info post about the concert, what to expect, general info etc. (especially if itâs your first concert/if youâve never been to Vector Arena before/if you need more info etc. etc.).Â
NB: there is quite a bit of info so buckle in and enjoy yourself! Less than a month to go!!
General/Important Info:
The concert is on Monday 18th April @ Vector Arena, Auckland
Concert starts at 8pm (unsure whether this is when the doors open or when the concert starts - will update when we know!!)
Iâm guessing that the concert will finish sometime around 10:30-11pm ish
Auckland public transport info: https://at.govt.nz/bus-train-ferry/
Donât forget your ticket! (If you know that youâre prone to losing stuff, then print out an extra copy/have a copy on your phone to keep on you so that you know that youâre backed up!)
CHECK YOUR TICKET for what door youâre going in. Vector has 7 doors and theyâre all lettered. Check your ticket for what letter door youâre going in so that you line up in the right place!!! (hereâs a map showing the different doors)
Venue Info:
Vector Arenaâs address is Mahuhu Crescent, Auckland. (you canât miss it. Like, you really canât miss it)
You can find general Vector info here: http://www.ticketmaster.co.nz/Vector-Arena-tickets-Auckland/venue/294951
Vector doesnât let you bring in big, professional DSLR cameras but if you want to take your camera then a simple point and shoot camera/your phone camera will be fine (If youâre taking photos remember to enjoy the concert through your own eyes too!!).
If youâre bringing a bag in, security will check it at the door. On the link above (x) it tells you down the side what you canât bring in (basically donât bring in anything illegal and youâll be sweet). Also NO GLOWSTICKS. Donât even bother buying or bringing any because they will confiscate them at the door.Â
You canât bring in bottles (from memory) so if youâre planning to wait in line a while then I would bring a cheap plastic water bottle (stay hydrated folks!!) so then you can just recycle it before the concert.Â
There is a Countdown 5 min walk from Vector Arena if you need any supplies/food etc.Â
There is food and drink on sale from Vector (really expensive) but they remove the lids from the soft drink bottles so if you wanna sneak in a bottle lid if youâre planning on buying a drink but donât want it open then be my guest (we did this for paramore but just donât let them catch you). :)
Good Things to Know/General Concert Stuff:
Vector Arena is huge. Like really big so I would get there early. How early you want to come depends on how long you want to wait in line for/whoâs coming with you (if anyone) etc etc.Â
Thereâs a thing called the FPE project. We did it last year and weâre gonna do it again this year! Info on this can be found:Â http://fpeproject.com/post/137912372293/j%C3%B8in-the-fpe-pr%C3%B8ject-we-are-the-few-the-proud
Wear something comfortable and light - it will get hot inside the venue! also when the concert finishes it can be quite cold, (especially with temperamental Auckland weather!) so if you have a light cardigan or jumper you want to wear then wear that - it gives you an extra layer of warmth without being super bulky! Wear comfortable shoes too and if you have long hair then bring a hair tie with you! (I canât stress this one enough!)
Bring at least $50 for merch! It will be really expensive so come prepared! Bring cash as opposed to a card, it will be easier to carry and that way youâre prepared in case EFTPOS doesnât work! (I know for Paramore they had a merch cart outside the venue and Iâm picking theyâll do a similar thing with TĂP. Bring enough money for merch too!! Shirts average around $50Â
If youâre not a fan of the big crowds just stand off to the side a little.
Be aware of whatâs going on around you and look out for yourself (and other people!). Respect is key!
Respect the security guards! They are there to keep you safe and if youâre nice to them, chances are theyâll be nice to you!
Bring earplugs!!! Even if you only wear them for the opening act, bring them and wear them! Save your hearing for TOP - it gets very loud inside the venue and itâs better to protect your ears even if itâs for just a little bit!
Talk to people in the line! We met some rad people last time and itâs always fun if you get to know the people around you!
But most of all, just relax, have fun and enjoy the show - TĂP puts on a really great live performance!!
If Iâve missed anything or if you want me to add anything, flick us a message: http://nzskeletonclique.tumblr.com/ask :)
Iâm thinking of making NZ related TĂP signs for us to hold up at the concert - so far I have âNZ Clique thinks youâre sick as frickâ - any other suggestions?

Hi everyone! Iâm Sarah (technicolourstereo), Iâm 17, from New Zealand and Iâm really into art, photography and music. I love pvris with all my heart but some of my other favourite bands include all time low, twenty one pilots, anberlin and pierce the veil (amongst others). I play the flute and I really like coffee. I also speak a little bit of Spanish but Iâm not fluent. Also, vinyl records are the bomb dot com.
