She’d repeated some of the advice she'd heard when she'd first started working at Eve's Garden. After all, it wouldn't do for a woman NOT to be able to take care of herself, there. Oh, of course, there were the bouncers, but she wasn't JUST a dancer; she needed to be able to fend for herself when she needed to.
At Dan's words, though, the young woman pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. Apparently, Dan didn't think terribly much of her. Either that or that was his odd way of complimenting her.
"I can be just as innocent a flower as anyone," she said, pout still present. And as if to prove that fact to him, she took a deep breath, schooling her features, willing herself to lose the hardened edge of steel that always lurked beneath the surface.
Sweet Pea smiled up at Dan through her lashes, as demurely as possible. She could be innocent if she damn well wanted.
He’d reached for her, but shifted mid-gesture to grab a bottle behind her. Dan was her friend, but did he REALLY think that she was so .... dangerous, so undesirable that he wouldn’t even touch her at all?
