digitalwaveprojectlj:
After drawing the cads for some of the previous garments I have designed, I scanned them into Photoshop to add different prints I’ve made to see what they would look like and help me to decide what garments to use for my final collection.
The use of two different coloured versions of the same print is very effective, however I am unsure about using them for my sportswear range as the colours don’t reflect my colour palette very well. The dress covering the sports bra is one of my favourite designs, and I think that the contrasting patterns complement each other in the way they have been presented.
The asymmetrical hemmed oversized t-shirt is a garment which I would love to be a part of my final collection as the print used, as well as the colours show exactly what I hoped to present in my range. This also goes for the joggers at the which I think would look great paired with a matching bomber jacket.
When matching the contrasting patterns on this playsuit, I was aware that the pattern on the shoulders doesn’t match with my colour pattern. That being said, I would still like the include this design in my final range as I think the design is an unusual one for an activewear range, and the contrasting patterns make a bold statement. The silhouette of the jacket is also unique, which is why I decided to include it when narrowing down the garments I might use. However, I think when paired with the print, the colours are too dark and strong which isn’t in line for a spring/summer collection.
When designing this two-piece hoodie, I originally planned for the different sections to be different prints. However, when adding the prints onto it using Photoshop, I didn’t like how the prints looked together, so I decided to use the same print throughout using purple ribbing to break up the pattern. The leotard is a garment that I have wanted to be in my final line up since the start of the project. I believe that the print used for this garment is very effective as it shows movement in the garment which will have a really nice effect on the lycra I would use to construct the garment.
I designed this cropped bomber jacket with the intention of making it out of organza. I wanted to do this so that the prints of whatever garment is underneath can still be shown, however, I have decided that if I make this garment, I will get a print printed onto organza so that my collection is still print based. I filled the tank top with a simple geometric print, but when looking at it on a garment, I think that it would be better for an accessory to go with the collection, rather than be part of the actual collection. Finally, the layered crop top is a garment that I hadn’t imagined would fit with the digital wave theme when I first started the project. After trying different prints for this garment, I decided that this was my favourite as it fits well with the colour scheme.
