Is this too complex for basic customization? Like should I have widget editing under basic or advanced? What do basic people usually want to do with their profile when they don't want to waste time?
I know in the past, Youtube and for a time Twitter had the options to upload a banner, background, and colors. But should basic include all the colors or just preset colors? Maybe all the colors should be medium?
Again I'm thinking about it from an advanced tech side, I don't know what basic people want @_@
Another feature I decided to add that Mercari and the others DO NOT have.
Ability to follow a Franchise and/or Fandom.
So say you want to follow Tangled but not Disney, and you only want to follow Dolls. You'd choose the franchise or fandom to follow then get a list of all items types to follow in that franchise or fandom.
Or you could follow Disney, and select to follow only pins. Or Pokemon and only follow cards. Or One Piece and only follow Sanji Figurines.
Basically the ability to curate your dashboard for the items you're interested in only. With the ability to unollow them at any point or temporarily disable them.
Instead of getting junk.
Website Store-front Customization is a go!
And the 'escape this fucking profile' button works! Broom (for now it will be an eraser when I make one) erases all customizations on the website to default templates so if you go to shop profile that's just really badly done (like yellow text on pink background) or marquee everywhere, or obnoxious giant images like Myspace used to do.
You click the broom and it turns them off-site wide so you can still see the profile and what they're selling.
If you click the art tray, it turns it back on. So you can have Myspace customization without the headache of being stuck on bad profiles we had in the past.
(IGNORE the default template, it's using the figma made one until I make the real one last because my brain is still trying to come up with where to put things and how I want it displayed for default or even the color sceheme. For now I kinda just ripped off Tumblr's Rave colors for testing LOL)
Or say fuck the default page layout and completely change it.
Next step is to make all the shop widgets now. For Medium Customization and Beginner Customization.
Dude Tumblr did it again.
Last time I unfollowed someone that was a mutual and thought I was softblocked until I re-followed.
Today I found myself following someone I KNOW I didn't follow and had to unfollow.
Either I am falling asleep on my phone and hitting things or Tumblr is adding and removing what it wants.
Fix your shit @staff

Also. To the other post about working on the front end of the website.
I am lost at what to do about images.
Most marketplaces use images. Most y2k anime sites used GIANT anime or other media images. Old school layouts were more image based than anything. As they were more graphical less template sleek uniform we have now.
But this is a secondhand marketplace that will be an LLC. I can't just use random Disney, anime, etc images in my graphics. Even using a logo for the button can get me sued.
... So wtf do I do. Draw my own, no one wants to look at my fan art on a business site. That's like do not do 101 for professional sites. Stock images? Using characters or IP is still grounds to get used. Like the button for Disney can't be the Disney castle. I guess it could be a silhouette of a castle, random. But then comes in on whether to use stock photos, draw my own, or ... clip art.
Ergh. Front End is so much more harder than back end.
Right, so everything about the website is done on the BACK END. I could literally launch it today with a Figma template or some pre-made crap that looks like a clone of Mercari/Poshmark/Vinted/DePop or look completely Shopify-made.
... It's the Front End I am now concerned with and STUCK ON.
And when I mean stuck I mean, I have like 5-8 design ideas scattered around me. Several old-school y2k websites open in tabs for inspiration since I want to go old-school in design, and a dozen more notes with the aforementioned market places also open for inspiration.
Basically, taking bits and pieces, looking at what works and doesn't, what would be cool and what wouldn't. Like how do I want the Dashboard to look, do I want a browse page or have the browse on a side-bar like y2k-web style, or do I want everything in menus, etc.
...And this is what is now taking so long and has made things stall.
Because this is how I get for EVERY DAMN PROJECT I start. I have a million options, simple and complex. But my brain wants the PERFECT option, the one that's unique, the one I have to pick out, instead of just going with whatever just to get it done.
So I get stuck in this cycle of indecisiveness, that turns into getting overwhelmed, which then turns into not being able to finish, which turns into going FUCK THIS, and abandoning said project.
... Like it could be done. But my brain is being my own worst enemy right now god dammit.
Got my laptop back today, motherboard fixed (BIOS chip and electrical bus repair). The good one. The Acer Nitro 16. So I can get off this damn junk chromebook and actually work on things again.
...But now I'm paranoid. Because this house still isn't fucking grounded and she won't get it grounded because that's thousands.
So outside dragging a metal pipe in my room, static mat, static band, and humidifier to cut down on static. There's nothing to do to avoid the outlets shorting out my comps.
So... might be a few days before I swap back to it because I want to at least static proof the room the best to my ability.
