I have a tech storage question I hope you can offer some input on. So I'm in the process of archiving a bunch of stuff, mainly downloading a lot of media as well as backing up my PC and stuff. I initially bought a 128gb flash drive and quickly realized it's nowhere near capable of handling the amount of transferring I need, plus it's too small. I also have two 32gb flashdrives that are similarly too small for real storage. I want to invest in something that'll allow me to backup everything I want to watch, but I also don't want to get rid of my flashdrives (at least the 128gb one). It's slow but since it's new and the smaller ones are over 10 years old, I don't mind parting with those. Do you have any advice on what I should do storage wise?
I know there's external ssds, even up to the tb, so maybe you can save up for one of those so you can have all your files in one spot.
Personally I have a 128gb usb, a 32gb usb, and some 16gb usbs so I divide my files based on type (i.e. 128gb for videos, 32gb for music, and the other ones for pics/docs/etc.). That is a pain but you also don't want to rely on putting all your eggs in one basket in case you have hardware failure.
Before I put my files into my storage, I tend to compress my big folders (Pictures, Documents, etc.) so that there is a bit more room in my usbs BUT you need to wait until it's completely compressed before you move it to your storage or all your files will be corrupted (rip my old ass files orz).
If you want to reuse your usbs you can also reformat or wipe out the data and use it for something else (I used to use a bunch of usbs for Linux distros but thanks to Ventoy I store them on a 16gb usb lol)
