Energy Red from Teatulia
Prep: 212° water, ~6 minutes steep, honey Verdict: ★★★★☆ 4/5 Very Good!
For a bright and flavorful pick-me-up, Energy Red teabags combine red rooibos with hibiscus and eleuthero root. Believe me when I say, this tea has big flavor. It’s vibrant and fruity, with a tart kick that fades into lingering jammy sweetness. With rich red color and exuberant taste, this tea is designed to give you a boost.
The flavor alone is bold enough to perk you up, but eleuthero root is supposedly energizing. I can be a skeptic when it comes to claims like that, but there’s no denying that I find this tea invigorating. Whether that’s the root or its bright flavor is anybody’s guess. But I will tell you, drinking this tea helped me sit down and focus on some upcoming deadlines when I just couldn’t seem to muster the motivation. Plus, because it comes in a teabag, it’s convenient for brewing on the go with minimal cleanup (and minimal stress).
I like to add a spoonful of honey to really make the taste pop. However, DO NOT add milk. This tea contains hibiscus, which will curdle your milk, and it’ll be a gross experience for everyone.
Regardless of how much you buy into claims of different health remedies (I promise I won’t soapbox at you about the marketability of tea through health lingo), this tea has a bright, big flavor that’s juicy and bold. I find it rejuvenating and thirst-quenching, with a vibrant, energizing taste.
