Another little teaser of my latest story about Spirk.
“Meeting, Captain?” Spock asked, raising an eyebrow, whereupon Jim immediately stood up and smoothed out his officer’s shirt. Maybe “meeting” was a bit too fancy a word for venting to his best friend.
But…
“Yes, Commander. We were talking about…” His gaze drifted to Bones for help; Bones' own eyebrow shot up before he stood up and slapped Jim on the shoulder. “Don’t drag me into this. I’m a doctor, not some damn couples therapist!” Then the doctor in question walked out of his own office. Not without first giving Spock a subtle nudge toward Jim, causing the door to close automatically behind the Vulcan.
An awkward silence spread through the small office.
“Am I correct in assuming that your meeting consisted of complaining to Leonard about my reaction?” Spock asked, whereupon Jim crossed his arms over his chest. “Perhaps. But just so you know, as his best friend, I’m allowed to do that. As if… as if you wanted anything else from him other than to complain about me!”
He watched as Spock’s expression darkened slightly before he took a step toward Jim. “Negative, Jim. I …” Spock’s expression softened a little as he took another step toward him and his sternum gently brushed against Jim’s forearms. “… I wanted to ask him how I can explain to you why I’m not ready for so many changes all at once.”
Jim took a deep breath before nodding briefly and then stepping back to lean against the edge of Bones desk. “Well. I’m here. Explain it to me.”
