Hike: Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve, Winters, CA
I decided to hike the Blue Ridge Trail once again, but this time I went with two of my former students; Ruby and Christianah. Â I wanted to take them on a challenging yet beautiful hike. Â Because of time constraints, I decided to take them to Cold Canyon instead of hiking in the Foothills. Â
We left West Sacras towards Winters at around 10:45am. Â We got there at around 11:45am, and hit the trail. Â The day was cloudy and rain was expected, but we didn't care. Â Hiking the trail surrounded by nature is a wonderful feeling. Â When we got to the area with the steep stairs, the girls knew that the trail was no joke. Â Around this area, I came across one of my former students from UC, Davis. Â I told him that it was great to see more Xicanos in the wilderness. Â Once we got to the ridge, the girls got to experience the beautiful view of Lake Berryessa. Â About half way down the ridge, there is a beautiful spot where we sat to eat some snacks. (That's were we took the picture of our shoes.) Â We sat and had a conversation that ranged from personal life to academics. Â By this point, it was raining, but we didn't mind it at all. Â The rain just added to our outdoor experience. Â
After that spot, we continued our walk and came to a second spot that overlooks the lake. Â Here, we took out our cell phones and took some selfles to document our experience. Â I remembered how Ruby used to "steal" my cell phone in advisory and take selfies without me knowing until days later. Â After this spot, the trail descends back to the parking lot. Â We made it down kinda quick by running down the trail. Â We worked up quite an appetite while hiking, and decided to stop by "El Verduzco" taco truck in Winters on our way back to Sacras. Â I had a torta de pollo that was riquÃsima! Â I recommend the hike and the taco truck, especially with great company. Â I had a great time with my babies! Â C/S
