A Drabble for sonny sunshine carisi, please??
for you jules? OF COURSE! (I apologize for any mistakes, I’m watching the rangers/sabres while writing and editing)
you blink against the fluorescent lights, too bright for your sleepy eyes. you feel the pain in your ankle returning and try to ignore it until the nurses can give you more painkillers. you attempt to throw an arm over your eyes to block out the light, but you’re impeded by a hand holding yours. your brow furrows in confusion, wondering who it could be.
“hey doll, you up?” a familiar voice asks.
“yeah it’s me,” he clarifies, standing into your sightline. “listen, take it easy okay they’re starting another dose of pain meds but they need to kick in.”
“but, wait,” you say trying to connect the dots, “I thought.” you frown at him. “I think I’ve lost some time,” you finally admit.
sonny huffs out a breath and nods. “ok, so they brought you in here at 11am. It’s nearly 9pm.” you blink at him, jaw dropping a bit. “I’m not lying,” he says showing you his watch. it’s definitely nearing 9pm and you sink back into the pillows on your bed, shocked.
nearly half a day in the hospital. your ankle in pain. more pain medicine…what the hell happened?
“you took some hits during the takedown and then got pushed down a flight of stairs. gave everyone a fright,” sonny explains. “nurses said the meds would be wearing off soon so I figured I’d grab some stuff for you and wait for you to wake up. didn’t want you to be alone.”
you manage a soft smile through the pain. “thanks, sonny.”
he shrugs, pulling stuff from a bag at his feet. “so my ma packed up a bunch of food for you - pasta, bread, chicken, anything you want,” he says pulling out the food. you smile and let the rest of his words wash over you, just glad that he’s here.
