D&D’s “Dany’s mad all of a sudden” was bad but how they wanted to show she’s evil for killing precious babies was over the top. The way everyone kept saying “innocent(s)”, showing close-ups of children, people carrying babies, that family that Arya got killed (because she thought she knew better than to take shelter and she survived running around a war zone because plot armor + magic horse); this was a war and Cersei herself never surrendered.
I agree that going straight for Cersei and taking out her tower would have been better, that losing a dragon here would have been the better option for Dany going on a rampage. But D&D in their (lack of) wisdom went here and they went hard with the OH NO KIDDIES ARE DYING.
It felt more like some anti-abortion campaign, the precious innocent babies, the innocent, the innocent, the INNOCENTS!!! It had the subtly of a sledgehammer and only made me more likely to side with Dany than the Puritanical side. They took the ‘kick the dog’ trope and beat the audience with it and it felt like propaganda rather than storytelling.
