People view Adrian as weak for going back to Deran after the bathroom scene. They are not thinking about it as deep as we are. They don’t consider a life long friendship, Deran confiding in Adrian about how vile Smurf is so Adrian knowing Deran is terrified of her finding out. They don’t think about Belize. They just see them as two fun-buddies and then Deran beats the shite out of him and Adrian accepts it. I still wish we’d seen Derans apologies or that Adrian had made him work a bit harder... but I suppose the purpose of Adrian in season 2 was to say out loud for us all how much Deran had changed.

Adrian is “nice” but boring, not very bright and has nothing about him.

This is down to his character development and I’ve chatted with a few people about how, to the general audience there has been nothing about him to actively like or root for. People who are invested in their relationship or actual Deran fans - that care about him and don’t just want him to be with the hottest guy 🙄 - are the ones that see beyond that and like Adrian. We see what he’s done for and who’s he’s been to Deran. We know he’s the catalyst for all of Derans growth and development. One person said “Deran got the bar for himself not Adrian. Adrian didn’t tell him to buy the bar.” Like... way to miss the point by a million miles.

The first real character development Adrian got was this season in a snitching against the drug dealers and possibly the Codys plot. They massively threw him under a bus with the general audience. And people are moaning about how he’s blaming Deran for the mess he made (the line about how the Codys get away with stuff from this last episode). They seem to conveniently forget he made a point of telling Deran it’s not his fault because we know he knows Deran and knows he will self destruct and blame himself. They think that’s what’s gonna make Deran kill him!

In short, we’re not going to change their minds coz they just DONT GET IT!!!!
