21-23/11/12 Trip to Dusseldorf with a massive group of teaching assistants from our area and Cologne
training at Altenberg and moving in day
Altenberg, long story short, was really fun! Got to meet so many new people, which was exciting but also very tiring. I met a girl from Ilford, who lives in Seven Kings just round the corner from Iqra and Jazz - SUCH a small world! The 2 and a half days there were quite slow but the amount of information we were given was very overwhelming. However, it wasn't as intensive as I expected, because everything was kinda dragged out. The food was a lot better than we'd been told :) Although there were these weird potato dumpling things for lunch one day, which looked like they'd bounce off the wall if you threw it! They're called Kartoffelklösse, I think.
I moved in today to the flat, which is a basement flat under the landlord's house. It is lovely and cosy and I am really happy with my room :) Once I have unpacked properly and put up photos, decorations etc. I can start to feel more at home! I'm so glad I have my flatmate Rebecca, I'd feel so lost on my own!
Our landlords are so so lovely, they've been really helpful so far and they're not at all strict with house rules. We're allowed to use their house too, like watch tv or dvds in their living room and play the baby grand and use their kitchen equipment etc.
Now it's a question of settling into the new job starting next week (I think!) and finding my way round Nord Rhein-Westfalen!
