Completed the first week of having my own classes! I was really nervous to meet the students, but so far they’ve been lovely. I’ve got two special needs teens, so that’s a challenge. - but one I’m excited to take on. A colleague asked me whether I was feeling nervous or scared about that, but truthfully I don’t, I just want to make sure they feel comfortable in my lessons.
I saw the phrase “those who can’t do, teach” in the last post i reblogged so im just going to rant on it for a moment okay? cool
To Start: i really hate that phrase and it’s a horrible mentality to have
It’s used to put down Teaching like its only good as a backup plan for a “real” career and as an Education Student this really upsets me. Like Teaching already gets a pretty bad Rep ( mind you i'm thinking about this in US standards only ) because its filled with people who followed this mentality and don’t put all their effort into their students because they are only doing it because their main career either failed or is on hold.
of course not all Teacher are like that but if we keep pushing the mentality that Teaching isnt just as serious as say..Biologists or Historians then the Education culture as a whole won’t improve at all.
Maybe im just being picky about it because i want my future Career to be taken seriously and maybe i shouldn’t be so bother by the phrase but i just wanted to share my thoughts is all.
When people call be a dumb liberal and say that public affordable education is not a necessity? Uhh education major here bye.
Been pretty quiet on here these past few days. Not doing a lot; struggling to get the bare minimum done. Still being consumed by The Pitt- I am Robby & he is me. I’ll finish the show once I’m done with studying for today. For now I’m glad that I managed to get at least something done…
to do: study for culstud exam (4ish days left), 1x essay outline, exercises on citation, tasks for didactics class, essay for litstud

visited the second mandatory tutorial session for my literature class, then sought shelter in the psych library as it has an ac, before returning to my beloved humanities library. read 30 pages for tomorrows seminar & wrote the first draft of a short story - still have to type it into an actual document.
Survived week 1! Everything went pretty smoothly and I’m really happy to be back to studying & seeing my friends :) - will work on the texts for both literary and cultural studies this weekend, and I’ll hopefully also start studying for my linguistics exam (again). Other than that I started taking a new medication earlier this week, and while there are two very positive changes, I have absolutely lost my creativity and ability to think further than absolutely necessary. I really hope this goes away soon because if it doesn’t, I don’t know if I can continue taking these meds…this just isn’t my brain.
more flashcards for my exam & the assignment for my writing class done; the library seems to be the only place where I can write…
