It's nasty outside... by Kevin Cavanaugh Via Flickr: How about a couple of popsicles to cool off. M-K rebuilt 4 U25B's into TE704S morphadites in a proposed new paint scheme for Espee. There were never any further forthcoming from M-K, but the four managed to rack up a few miles around the west before SP had had enough. While they were usually kept together, there were times when they got around in pairs or even as lone wolves. This was the only time I saw any of these oddballs and then it was only two of them, but it was hard to pass up the opportunity to record them for posterity in decent afternoon light this May 10, 1978 at City of Industry while waiting for their next assignment. Enjoy the coolness!
The "popsicle" nickname, the proto-SPSF color scheme, or the disappointing silk purse you get out of a sow's ear—these MK rebuilds were brutal beasts, don't let anyone fool you.
