Mia had just told you to not draw attention to yourself, but she also couldnât see the rainbow of footprints heading away from where you stood. And the more you looked at them, you realize they are slowly fading.Â
You canât help the pull of curiosity and you follow the footprints. Youâre a Jedi or⌠grew up as one. It didnât much matter. Sneaking around should be no problem at all. You follow the footprints through the corridors when they passed a bank of lifts and kept going you sigh with relief. When you had started following them you hadnât considered the possibility of going to another level.Â
Eventually you hear three men talking from beyond the next turn of the corridor.Â
âHow much longer are we in hyperspace for again?â You could hear one ask. Â
âRex said another standard rotation,â another clone answered.Â
âHey âCaseâŚâ the first began and your eyes went round as you froze.Â
âI am not spending hours spotting you lifting weights Jess,â you presumed it was Hardcase.Â
âWe could spar?â Jesse offered.Â
âI have work to do, I am not reffing for you two,â a third answered. Â
âRange then?â
âSureâÂ
You hear them move off down the corridor and you check your chrono. You still have time if you hurry back to not be late or do you follow the three?Â
Do you...
Make a break for it to get back to work so you can discuss with the others later

You froze, he was walking towards you. Past him you could see Kix and Jesse were looking at him, baffled. They clearly didnât know what was going on. Your anxiety hits a level of existence you never knew was possible. Which was quite a feat in itself. He looked utterly relaxed as he approached, wide grin on his face. You couldnât register the chatter around you.Â
Nettie leaned to your ear, putting a hand on your arm. âConsider it a suggestion from the Force. Nothing says you have to do anything about itâ
âIt IS you,â he grinned when he got to the table.Â
âI⌠sorry⌠I didnât mean to eavesdrop earlier,â you stammer.Â
He shakes his head. âI saw at first meal, but I couldnât be sure because all of you were sitting already and I didnât know if you had switched spots or⌠sorry. Iâm Hardcase,â
âI knâŚâ you begin without thinking only to be poked hard in the side by Kyan'itte.Â
âLouri,â you recover, with a weak smile.Â
âMeshâla, Louriâ he said, almost half to himself.Â
Nettie and Mia shifted down and Nettie gestured to the seat between you. âHere, join us,â
âThanks,â he said, moving into the seat. He looked around at all of them with interest.Â
âSo um, this is Nettie and Miaâ you gesture to the two that had slid down to give him a spot. âAnd Thysia, Kyanâitte, and Safirea.â
Just as he opens his mouth he is being pulled back off the seat.Â
âWhat the kark are you thinking, man!â You hear as you turn to see Jesse and Kix. Jesse was speaking. âYou know we arenât supposed to bug the Jedi,â
âJesse!â Kix hisses, then apologizes . âSorry for my brotherâs language,â
They began pulling a protesting Hardcase away. âIâm not bugging them! Iâm here for a reason!â
âYeah, the reason is you are a diâkut,â Kix muttered.Â
âNo, really!â Hardcase made a fairly good effort of trying to get out of the grip of his brothers, but was still being cautious of the surrounding people.
âRex will loose his mind if he finds out,â Jesse warned as they entered the nearest corridor.Â
You look around at the group. Expressions ranged from absolute fangirl mode to worried. Â

You smile and say âHelloâ to the shiny, following Safirea to a table.Â
âDonât stare at them!â she hisses at Nettie.
âI canât help it⌠we are really here,â Nettie responds, turning her attention back to the food on her tray.Â
This meal is surprisingly more appetizing at first take than the general Fanon leaned on. It was porridge like, something likeâŚ
âSpace oatmeal,â Thysia says, picking up a container of fruit preserves evidently meant as a topping. Or judging by the way the men at the near tables were using it.Â
âSo do you think they are here?â Mia asks.
Something catches your attention from across the mess hall. Golden close cropped hair. Your first thought is, there are other blonde clones. It was rare, sure, but they exist. Then the man stood and you knew for sure. You knew that pauldron, that shade of blue.Â
Kyan'itte pokes you in the side, âare you okay, it looks like youâve seen a ghost?â
âOh, he is not a ghost,â you answer.Â
The others go to look and you say, âDonât look! We stand out enough as is. We just have to make it through the day without causing suspicion,â
âYouâre right,â Mia sighs.
You finish your food, not as bad as you had feared. The caf was okay and the juice, though clearly from a powdered form, was drinkable.
âI think we might be close to time for our shifts?â Thysia said, almost finished eating, she wrinkled her forehead. âThis memory-not memory thing. I thought maybe it would get clearer the longer we were awake.â
You shake your head, âI donât know whatâs going on,â
You head off to one of the bays where the walkers were kept, Mia walking with you as far as one of the computer rooms. You notice footprints in bright colors, almost as if someone had walked in paint that changed color with every step. With your inbetween knowledge of earth life and star wars life⌠it didnât seem familiar.
You elbow Mia, âLook, weird space paint. Looks like trooper walked through some,â
She gives you a weird look, âWhat do you mean?â
âYou donât see it?â you ask.
âNo,maybe a force thing?â Mia answers. âHey, remember to keep your head down. We can figure out what to do later.â
With a little wave she disappears into a room.
You look after her, then the trail of footprints down the hallway, then back the way you need to go to work.

Chapter One: Dreams and Reality
âWhat happened to my hair?!!â The shriek jolted you out of sleep, and into awareness of somewhat unfamiliar surroundings.Â
âTwiâleks donât have hair,â you mumble in response, not even realizing what you were saying until you said it.Â
Sitting upright quickly your head narrowly misses the bunk over you. âThis isnât my room, where the hell am I?â Echos of the same sentiment were vocalized all around you.Â
Your first response was that you were dreaming. Had been reading fan fiction too much before bed. One too many pieces of clone trooper fan art. But something was telling you this was all too real. You could feel the thrum of the engines in your bones.
âMy skin is blue?â
âWe arenât dreaming, are we?â Someone asked from the bunk over your head.Â
âAre we in Star Wars?â Another squeaked.Â
âI donât know of any Twiâleks on Earthâ
âHow many of us feel like we are from somewhere else,â what seems to be the only human asks.
âMe,â was the answer in surround sound.Â
You get out of the bed, wincing at the cool metal floor.Â
âOkay, who doesnât?â The same person asks. Silence.
âStar WarsâŚâ a Pantoran sighed. âOn a large ship, going who knows where?â
âWait, WHEN are we?â, another asks. Â
You spot a republic cog on a nearby container. âBefore the empire,â you point it out to the others.Â
âThere is a lot of time before the empire,â the other twiâlek, lavender pink skin and light purple tattoos on her lekku. Â
You decide to do some recon, moving to the door, it slid open. You poke your head into the hallway just in time to see the backs of two clone troopers in phase one armor walking away.Â
You canât help but giggle after you duck back in. âMmmm⌠phase one, nice!â you say, fanning yourself with your hand dramatically.
âWhy do I feel like I KNOW this?â a pantoran asks.
âI donât know, but I do too,â Your attention is drawn to a red zabrak with intense blue eyes.Â
âNettie,â You say, automatically. The name surfacing in your mind as easily as if you knew her. But you did. Nettie, or Garnette, had been in your youngling clan. After this you immediately questioned⌠youngling? Clan? Were you a Jedi?Â
Nettie blinked, as if registering that was her name, âYeah?â
You felt like the situation now was just out of reach. Your mind supplying information slowly as if it was something you knew, but at the same time you didnât.Â
âOhh!!! Look what I found!â Nettie says, clearly excited. She holds up what was clearly a lightsaber hilt.Â
âNo! Donât!â the human⌠Saphirea cries out, but it was too late. She had activated it.Â
The familiar hum filled the room.Â
âAwesome!â Nettie exclaims.
âWickedâ someone else cheers.Â
Then the blade retreats and the hum is gone.Â
Nettie looks stunned, âweâre JediâŚ.at least weâre service Corp. Iâm a healerâŚand you, you do computersâ she pointed at a pantorian near her.Â
You couldnât help but feel that everything she is saying is correct. You âknewâ and even ârememberedâ working on vehicles as some sort of Jedi mechanic. But the life you had expected to wake up to felt real, solid. This one did too, except, many of the details of this life were missing.Â
âWait⌠can we fix it?â A very small pantoran with extremely long hair gasped. Mia, your mind supplies.
Could you? Do you have enough information to fix it?
âHow do I know Iâm not dreaming?â The pink Twiâlek, Kyan'itte, asks. âI dream Star Wars a lot. If that was real life,â
âTwo lives, which one is the dream?â The other Pantoran, Thysia asked.Â
âWhat if both are real?â Mia asked.Â
Nettie shook her head, âwe donât have time to figure it out now.â She pointed to a digital clock⌠chrono? The more you think about it the distinction of which is real becomes blurrier. âOur sleep shift is over, time to eat and work,â
âHow early are we, I wonder,â Kayanitte said, dressing in Jedi robes that were mostly purples.Â
Thysia, one of the pantorans, asked âhow well does any of us know the timelines?âÂ
âItâs sketchy with what information we had,â Kyan'itte shook her head.Â
âWell we canât exactly walk into the council and tell them about the chips and Palps,â you point out.Â
âLetâs just get through this day and then we can work on it.â Mia says, as you enter the corridors. Â
The feeling of knowing where to go when you had no
memory of having been there is disconcerting.Â
Passing troopers in their helmets in the corridors was one thing. But getting to the mess hall and being faced with a couple hundred eating and talking with no helmets on was near heart stopping.Â
One of the troopers, a shiny you guessed by the pristine white of his plastoid armor, with a reg cut, smiled brightly at the group as they got into line. âGood morning!â He greets.Â
Choice

Chapter Four: Just a peek
Whether itâs actually a good plan or not you decide you can at least peek at them. Jesse and Hardcase? In the flesh? You get to the corner and try to peek around. Â They are halfway down the next corridor when you do.Â
Again, sets of armor you would recognize anywhere. Each had their helmets tucked under an arm. The third being Kix, as you had suspected when you had heard the other two referring to each other.Â
âCome on Kixie,â you saw Jesse elbow him. âYou donât need to organize the supplies again. Come to the range with usâ
âNo, thanks. Iâd rather get it done now and be able to rest after lunch. Maybe read or something,â Kix answered. Â
Whatever teasing response the others gave him you never tracked because thatâs when you noticed the trail of footprints didnât lead past them. That each colorful step was being created by Hardcaseâs boots.Â
Unthinking, you turn the corner into the corridor they are in and thatâs when your com rings. You make it about two steps after him, intrigued, before your com rings. You gasp, as you fumble to answer it.Â
âHello?â Your eyes flicked up to see the three staring at you.Â
âHey you okay? Youâre usually early, have you gotten into trouble already today?â The voice was teasing and your mind supplied the name âBoltzâÂ
âIâm fine Boltz, must have dozed while walking. Iâm on my way,â you take a couple of steps backwards before turning to run towards work. Â
Hours later you were sliding into a seat between to Kyanâitte and Nettie. âLook, itâs Jesse, Kix, and Hardcase.â Kyanâitte pointed out as soon as you were seated.Â
âHardcase is staring at you and grinning like an idiot,â Nettie giggled.
âWhy would he be looking at me?â You ask, blushing.Â
âMaybe he thinks youâreâŚ.,â Saphirea began.Â
âWait, footprints,â Mia interrupted. âDid you follow the footprints you saw after I went to work?â
You blush deeper, âIâŚ. Yeah, I did. What does that have to do withâŚâ
Mia shook her head, â it doesnât make sense. Until this everything today seemed to point to this being very real,â
âOh! I read that fic,â Nettie said excitedly. âAre we in a soulmate au?â
âWait, hold on⌠we havenât even gotten past the fact that we woke up in Star Wars and now we are talking soulmate au?â Saphirea broke in. Â
Chatter broke out among the others as you picked at your food, less appetizing than breakfast was. But that wasnât the only reason. You were really unsure how you felt about soulmate in real life. If this was real life.Â
Sure, he was your favorite. You felt a connection to his character⌠to him since he first showed up in the show. And fan fics about soulmates were a guilty pleasure of yours. But the sudden loss of choice gave you pause.Â
âShhhhhh!!!â Kyanâitte hissed âheâs coming this way!â
Choices
1. Wait for him to get to the table-winner
2. Head him off to talk to him alone
3. RUN!
Chapter Five: Freeze
