UNDER PRESSURE MONTREAL
by Scribe and Tchug
"We realized we didn't have the credibility we needed and that the city, police and media were not really aware of street-art culture." —Sterling Downey, Under Pressure co-founder
Now a quarter century old and the largest graffiti and hip hop festival in North America, Sterling Downey says @UP_MTL started as a joke but has since turned into an important means of keeping Montréal informed about different sides of the debate over graffiti. Centered around a weekend in late summer the festival brings more than 100 artists from near and far to the Quartier Des Spectacles neighborhood to celebrate alongside musical performances and urban dancing competitions. In 2019 graffiti writers Scribe and Tchug, aka Francois Leandre, added this work on Rue Sainte-Elisabeth at Sainte Catherine St. @tchugness/ @scribecsx/
