Woah.. Isn't it kinda fucked up to say anyone is "Off the rails" just because she wasn't happy that a stranger on twitter was trying to tell her how to act? It's not like she came at you unprovoked... celebs who are already treated like they're owned probably aren't gonna be super stoked about someone trying to teach them a lesson. The world can cry that Beyoncé didn't get an album but Brody can't root for iggy/josh? Pretty sure Bowie wouldn't hold it against her.
None of this is about whether sheâs allowed to rally for Iggy and Josh. Nor Beyonce or the nature of celebrity. Youâll note that I agreed that the Grammys werenât the be-all and end-all. My concern was the series of comments that, like I said, didnât actually elevate Iggy and Josh on the basis of merit, but did it by bagging on others. Itâs very likely that this stems from the way the Grammys treated Josh a couple of years back, but that had nothing to do with Bowie or whether or not his final album was good enough in her eyes to justify winning. It was a tantrum. But I didnât respond to indulge the tantrum or debate her right to an opinion. I expressed concern about where she was directing that anger, trying to appeal to her better senses. I made the choice not to be hostile. She made the choice to be petulant and rude in spite of that. She can think whatever she wants about the Grammys, I wasnât there to force any opinions. But I also donât handle people with kid gloves because theyâve got a public profile and think theyâre exempt from normal inquiry when they do questionable things.
Re: âOff the railsâ, I couldâve picked a better phrase but there has been a trend in her behaviour lately. Itâs not just me to whom this has been directed, and not just this incident.
If you saw provocation in what I said but not in what she said, I canât help you there. But I was not trying to be rude to her whereas she was definitely setting out to be rude to me. Even then, I was civil towards her when I could have gone to town. Only saying.
