Emperor Hux sat comfortably in his specially crafted throne. He’d had Snoke’s melted down and replaced it with one that he felt truly represented the Hux name, the new royal family of the Galaxy. It was taller, of course, far taller than necessary, the back rest almost reaching to the ceiling. The material was a mixture of rhodium and cobalt to create a gunmetal blue metallic base that matched Hux’s ice blue eyes which were flecked with hot ash. The same ones as his father, the Hux eyes. The seat cushion was a deep black with the fur of vornskr wolves his soldiers personally captured for him. Encrusted in the back seat just above the Emperor’s head right to the top was a pattern of rubies, based on the signet ring that his father had before the terrible bacta-tank incident that cost him his life. Next to the Emperor’s throne was a smaller one, the same but the back rest was half his own in height. Sat upon it was his Prince-Consort Kylo Ren, as much as the Emperor loved his husband he had to ensure the Galaxy knew the difference in power between them.
That afternoon the Emperor and his husband were sentencing criminals, as a general rule they had been illegal force users but the final felon had even less force sensitivity than Hux did. Mathias Iversen, the Emperor’s trusted General of the Galaxy’s Armies entered as two of Iversen’s men dragged the criminal in in chains. This was not a common occurrence and one that caused the Emperor’s eyes to widen slightly and thin his lips in surprise. Iversen however didn’t even look at the prisoner, Iversen’s eyes were fixed on the Emperor’s throne in a desperate, wanting manner. That was until he was forced to look at the Prince-Consort, their proficiencies with the force meeting for a moment, as Iversen’s old Master’s oak brown eyes stared at him. Planting inside his mind were the low words: Careful, Mads. He dropped his gaze and instead focused on stopping at the end of the hall and giving a short bow to Emperor Hux. His anger overwhelmed Kylo who sat and stared, the betrayal on Iversen’s silver eyes radiated throughout his entire body with his skeletal limbs almost shaking. When he spoke however he had somehow managed to keep his words calm and steady.
“Your Highness, I thought it appropriate I escort the prisoner to your feet given that this matter had effected me personally,” Iversen said, his tone far more formal than he would normally use even to the Emperor.
“Of course, Commander, proceed,” Hux said, his eyes focused on the person on their knees beside Iversen. They were a twi’lek with skin a deep indigo colour, their cranial appendages were cut and bruised from their interrogation and they could barely open their left eye. They had been left in the First Order uniform they had been arrested in but it was now in obscenely torn rags. The prisoner looked up and scowled as they stared defiantly into Hux’s face.
“This is Tavo Catal, they infiltrated my command six years ago under the alias of Di Si’Ney, a soldier they subsequently murdered and took over the identity of. Within this time they have been responsible for the theft of two hundred and thirty six military documents and for fifty seven ambushes which have cause thousands of our men to be slaughtered,” Iversen explained, he appeared calm to everyone but Kylo who saw the tell tale flicker of his right eyelid and the way his fingers twitched.
“It almost makes one wonder how they managed to operate unnoticed for so long,” Hux replied sardonically, his blue eyes piercing Iversen’s skin.
“Tigue- I mean- My Emperor,” Iversen spluttered, he was not used to this tone his own brother was taking with him. His cheeks reddened slightly but he took a deep breath and remained calm as he replied. “If you’ll forgive me, Emperor, it has not gone unnoticed we have been using every resource to track this traitor down. They have simply been like a ghost, completely untraceable.” Kylo leaned towards Hux before he could reply and whispered something in his ear that Iversen could only hear using his gift with the force.
“My Sun,” Kylo almost inaudibly began. “It is not Mads’ fault.” Hux relaxed and shuffled awkwardly on the chair in a manner not reflecting his station.
“Iversen, good job bringing this beast to me,” Hux said as if there had been no interruption. “It seems the reason for us not crushing the resistance under heel has finally been taken. I believe the sentence is obvious, no? Take them to the Corpulent Creature. The gigantic creature could do with a snack.”
“Yes Sir, of course, your Majesty,” Iversen nodded, a smile on his lips as he pictured seeing Tavo being shoved inside the previous Emperor’s gaping maw.
